Tag: "X2"

The new cheap Nokia X2-01 leaked today. It is a 2G phone with a 2.44″ QVGA landscape screen, microSD card slot, FM radio and Bluetooth. It has a 3MP camera (compared to 2MP on the C3), and it is lacking WiFi. On the left side of the navi-key you get a Music key, which is probably the reason the X2-01 is actually part of the X-series. This new QWERTY phone running on S40 is surely positioned at an even lower price point than the Nokia C3, mainly due to the fact of the missing WiFi radio

The Nokia C3-00 is currently priced 149€ here in Finland, so I’d guess a price of around 119-129€ for the X2-01 when it is available (all prices include 23% VAT).

OK, pictures of the X2, C3 and C6 dummys at least :)

Dummy phones of the Nokia C6, X2 and C3 arrived today to my workplace. This means that they aren’t far away from being released here in Finland! You can’t tell much from a dummy phone; just the size, weight and look.

The Nokia C6 looks really good, can’t wait to get my hands on the final product!

  • Nokia E7 – Symbian^3 on board, 4″ AMOLED touch screen, full QWERTY. Maybe a retake on the N97? ~N8 with a QWERTY keyboard?

Some really interesting phones we have there. Personally I’m excited about the HTC Gold, and the Nokia E7. Let’s see how this list turns out in the end :) Happy waiting!

Sony Ericsson published a scheduled updates roadmap for the Xperia X2. Users were not happy with the support on their Xperia X1, which did not get any updates. This will be fixed with the X2, and now they have come clean with the updates that the phone will see. The only problem is, that the phone will not see Windows Mobile 7. Here is a quote from their Xperiancers blog:

As the X2 begins to roll out globally, it’s only fair that customers know what kind of support we’ll be giving the phone in the months to come. It’s not news to say that we attracted some criticism for this on the X1 and we’re not going to go there again with the X2. So, for the record, this is what X2 customers can expect in terms of software upgrades.

In March, we’ll launch our first upgrade (MR1). It will upgrade Windows Mobile from 6.5.1 to 6.5.2 (which will improve both the stability and usability of the device), it will bring in the use of video telephony, an FM radio and it will introduce fast GPS to get a quicker fix. As well as all this, MR1 will upgrade a lot of the applications in the phone to improve speed, usability and fix any bugs we find.

The second update will go live in May and this will be a big one as it moves Windows mobile onto 6.5.3. This is a significant upgrade in terms of usability, performance, power management and the browser experience.

That’s the extent of our plans at the moment but I’ll update this post as we make any more decisions.

Thanks. Aaron

(ps. Before anyone asks, no it won’t ever go onto Windows Mobile 7, it won’t support the hardware.)

Bad news again to Sony Ericsson, since their newest device got once again pulled from market in the United Kingdom. Same thing happened with Nokia’s N97 mini. Orange dropped the Nokia N97 mini, and Vodafone dropped the Sony Ericsson X2. Reason for this is the high return rates of both phones.
