It has been known for long, that a basic AMOLED screen doesn’t do that well in direct sunlight. Samsung has told that their new Super AMOLED screen is better than anything else currently on the market.
In the video above, you can see three different screen types tested in direct sunlight:
Samsung Galaxy S with a 4 inch Super AMOLED screen
HTC Desire with a 3.7″ AMOLED screen
Sony Ericsson XPERIA x10 with a 4 inch TFT LCD screen
Can’t really say if the Super AMOLED is better than the LCD, but at least they are equally good. So now you can get the advantages of both worlds with the Super AMOLED screen seen on for instance the Samsung Galaxy S.
Sony Ericsson today confirmed that they will release an Android 2.1 update for the Xperia X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro during the third quarter this year. The update will also add HD video recording and a feature that can connect a television wirelessly to the phone.
It’s good to hear that they have managed to cut some waiting time for you eager Xperia X10 users out there (it was previously expected to be released in 4Q2010).
Sony Ericsson today wrote on their official blog that the X10 series (X10, X10 mini and X10 mini Pro) will get the long awaited Android 2.1 update in Q4 2010.
Every XPERIA X10 phone is currently running on the already dated Android 1.6. I personally think that Sony Ericsson has messed this whole line. We will see Android 2.2 (Froyo) in the coming months, and version 2.3 could be behind the door when the Sony Ericsson X10 receives its update. Bad move from Sony Ericsson, I wont be happy to sell these anymore. Feels like I would be cheating the customer.. ;)
A leaked Nokia document shows info of a previously unknown X-series phone, called most probably Nokia X10. This will also be the first phone to come with Symbian^3 on board, and it will basically be a X6 with Symbian^3 and a QWERTY-keyboard. Here is what is known so far:
April seems to be the global release month for Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X10. The latest country/carrier to announce availability of the X10, is Vodafone UK. The phone will be be released in both Japan and Germany in April.
An exact release date and price is currently not available for XPERIA X10.
Update: A Finnish online-store(Verkkokauppa.com) lists the phone at a price of 649.90€ without a contract.
