Check out this video comparison, made by the guys over at Pocketnow, between Apple’s iOS 4 and Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. It is a hefty 18 minutes and 30 seconds, so go and grab a drink before watching it!

Check out how Windows Phone provides anywhere access to Office 365 email, shared documents, and notes. Kirk Koenigsbauer, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Corporation, demonstrates the seamless experience of Office 365 on the Windows Phone. Windows Phone is the only phone with Outlook Mobile and Office Mobile that delivers a seamless experience with Office 365.

Garmin has finally released their long awaited GPS software for Windows Phone 7, called Garmin StreetPilot. This is a full blown navigation solution for your Windows Phone. It features premium features seen in their recently renewed nüvi personal navigators. Garmin StreetPilot is currently available for $39.99 in the Marketplace.

Great to see a real navigation solution on Windows Phone!

Here is the full description:

Download Garmin StreetPilot® and get Garmin® navigation, similar to the premium features on Garmin’s renowned nüvi® personal navigators. Designed exclusively for your Windows Phone, this application works on both 3G and EDGE networks and turns your device into a GPS navigator with turn-by-turn voice-prompted directions.

With Garmin StreetPilot®, you’ll always have access to the most up-to-date map data available. And to minimize data usage, maps are downloaded on demand for areas relevant to your route. Garmin StreetPilot® also includes real-time traffic updates at no extra cost. So you’ll know which areas to avoid as you travel.

Garmin StreetPilot® stores map data on your device so you can continue to view route details as you travel in and out of coverage areas. In addition, Garmin StreetPilot® lets you browse maps that have already been downloaded and stored on your device. Instead of downloading additional data for areas outside your travel area, Garmin StreetPilot® only accesses the map data you need to navigate your route.

Features include:

Always up-to-date maps for the U.S. and Canada, downloaded to your device on demand

  • Voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions including street names
  • Real-time traffic updates included at no additional cost
  • Automatic map storage so you can browse maps you’ve recently viewed outside of data coverage areas
  • Works great at both 3G and Edge connection speeds
  • Speed limits for most major roads
  • Integrated Local Search
  • Millions of points of interest
  • Lane assist with junction view for complicated interchanges
  • Address book integration to navigate to contacts
  • Current weather conditions and forecast
  • Place calls directly from search listing
  • Navigate in both portrait and landscape mode
  • Easy to install with quick load times

Windows Phone 7 is said to be the easiest mobile platform to develop applications for. You can see the development of a simple RSS reader on the video above. The video compares development for Windows Phone 7, and for Blackberry. WP comes out as the clear winner in this challenge! DFT HTC HD2 Mango

The HTC HD2 was once THE smartphone to have. Even in today’s standards this is a powerful device. The Dark Forces Team has earlier shown what they’re capable of doing with the HD2. They’ve successfully already installed Android on it, and it will now be followed by Windows Phone Mango!

The image you see above was presented by DFT earlier this week. They say that we could see a public release as early as tomorrow. The team tells that there are some things that will not work on the HD2, like all the live services and the Marketplace. Still, this is an awesome hack for HD2 owners.

Angry Birds XBOX Live WP7

The immensely popular game, Angry Birds, has finally hit the Windows Phone Marketplace. The game is available for $2.99, and contains 165 unique levels. There is also a free trial available.

Here is the description of the game:

“Angry Birds is coming to Windows Phone! The survival of the angry birds is at stake. Dish out revenge on the green pigs who stole the birds’ eggs. Use the unique destructive powers of the angry birds to lay waste to the pigs’ fortified castles. Each of the 165 levels requires logic, skill and brute force to crush the enemy.”

We’ve seen Microsoft demo Windows Phone at events with a screen share function. The problem is that currently this feature is not available for anyone else who’s not working at Microsoft. This would be an awesome tool for technology writers and bloggers (like me). I’d want to grab screen shots of a new Windows Phone 7 program and write about it. Currently I’m limited to using a digital camera, and this always results in worse images than thru a screen grab.

This is about to change since ffiinx, a XDA forum developer/user, who just released a tool called WP7 Screen RecX. This tool will do exactly what you expect it to do. It will enable you to show your device live on the computer screen via an usb cable or even wirelessly. When the image is on your screen, you can use practically any screen grabbing tool to take the image. The only drawback with this tool is that the frame rate is currently quite low. All the transitions that make Windows Phone awesome can’t really be seen.

You obviously need a developer unlocked device to install the required output bits on your phone.
