Angry Birds Big

Rovio, the developer of Angry Birds, told yesterday that they in fact are working on a Windows Phone 7 version of the highly popular game. When asked on when it will happen, Rovio answered that in “some months” time.

Rovio is also expected to launch a PlayStation mini version of the game later this week. This is meant to be played on the PSP, but can also be played on a real PS3. There has also been rumors that we will see a PC version of it, but no word on a release date for this.

Android Market

This day turned out to be a “milestone day” with both Windows Phone 7 and webOS markets hitting the 5,000 applications milestone, and now also the Android Market has hit the 200,000 applications milestone! The Android marketplace milestone is reported by AndroLib.com, and thus isn’t official. But it gives you an idea on where we are currently located with the Android Market. Another interesting fact is that the Android Market has served over 2.5 billion downloads to date. Impressive figures, congrats Google!

The Windows Phone 7 Marketplace has now hit the 5,000 applications milestone. Another OS today also hit the 5k milestone, with webOS hitting the same milestone after 18+ months in the business. Keep in mind that the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace has only been around for a few months now. Congratulations to Microsoft for this milestone!

Skype has earlier told that they will make a “series of video-related announcements” at CES 2011. Now, they ‘accidentally’ leaked a help document that actually confirms video-calling on iOS, but what about the other platforms? Currently video-calling via Skype is only possible on the Nokia N900, but that isn’t considered mainstream enough. The fact that Skype has told that they will make a series of video-related announcements could mean that they will simultaneously launch it on iOS and Android (and possibly even WP7?). We’ll know more next month when CES 2011 kicks off.

Verizon Wireless Windows Phone 7

It has long been known that a Verizon version of Windows Phone 7 will come in early 2011. This could happen very soon now, since we already see Verizon Wireless versions of Netflix and Slacker Radio in the WP7 Marketplace. Also their own My Verizon Mobile application can be found on the Marketplace. I’d say we will see a Verizon Wireless Windows Phone 7 hit the market in the coming few weeks.

Two massively popular games from iOS have been ported to Windows Phone 7. The games I’m talking about are Fruit Ninja and Pocket God. In the video above you can see Fruit Ninja in action. Both games are currently priced at $2.99 in the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace.

Ever since Windows Phone 7 was released, people have been speculating on how mant Microsoft has actually managed to sell. Now Microsoft has announced that their manufacturers have sold 1.5 million Windows Phone 7s. So this still isn’t the exact sales number, but it gives you an idea on how many WP7s currently populate the world. WP7 has been available now for roughly six weeks.

For comparisons sake, Google is currently activating 300,000 Android devices a day, and Apple manages to activate 280,000 iPhones a day. Microsoft is far from reaching numbers this high, but for a very young operating system the figures they announced are pretty solid.

Facebook for Windows Phone 7 just got updated. This is the first update to Facebook for WP7, and will up the version number to 1.1. The update adds photo tagging and Places support. The update should be available via the WP7 Marketplace now.
