Nokia’s first Windows Phone device is turning out to be called the Nokia 800. This piece of information comes from a new retail stand render where we can see the Nokia 800 running Windows Phone. Those of you with sharp eyes see that there’s a price tag of €329, but apparently this is just a placeholder instead of a final price.

The Windows Phone Marketplace today reached the unofficial 30,000 app milestone. The stats are unofficial because they’ve been gathered by a 3rd party called Windows Phone AppList. Could be that Microsoft doesn’t confirm this milestone either. Windows Phone needed 512 days to reach the milestone. Congrats Windows Phone and Microsoft!

cookiemonster21x, a deviantART user, has created a pretty cool wallpaper pack called metro lock for Windows Phone users. There’s actually two different versions, with colors themes matching every Mango accent out there.

Hit View Post to see the second pack, and also the download links.

Here’s a video showing you the new and improved features of the Games Hub in Windows Phone Mango.

Windows Phone developers aware! The Silverlight Toolkit will get a Mango update sometime in August. The Silverlight Toolkit has been used in many Windows Phone applications (and Silverlight applications) to make them more smooth and functional. Components like the LongListSelector and PerformanceProgressBar can be seen in almost every Windows Phone Silverlight application out there. Its good to see that a Mango refresh is also on its way of the toolkit. Stay tuned for more news on when this is actually available.

Microsoft is really making an effort with Windows Phone and the development of coming updates to it. We’re right around the corner of the official Mango release to end users, but that hasn’t of course stopped Microsoft on working on the following updates. We’ve been told that Windows Phone Tango is the next update after the fall Mango update. The Tango update is rumored to be released in spring 2012, and the Apollo update should come in fall 2012.

Now, an alleged screen shot of Tang build 8200 has leaked on a Slovakian forum. The post made by a forum user called Snake shows a local search feature. This would allow the user to search locally on the phone before doing the same search on the internet. The local search would tackle at least email, SMS, Zune, and Facebook. LinkedIn support was not found in this build.

Nokia Sea Ray proto

At the Center for Automotive Research’s Management Briefing Seminars, President of Nokia USA, Chris Weber, has demonstrated Nokia’s upcoming hands-free voice texting program.

Nokia will use Microsoft’s voice-recognition technology to transfer speech into text. Weber said that the technology will be present on Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone Mango device.

Weber has been using the hands-free texting for one month. “I ended up doing 17 text messages and I never touched the phone,” Weber said.

“I am one of those that text(ed) in the car before this, which wasn’t the safest thing to do,” he said.

Skype for Windows Phone 7

A new Skype job posting confirms what has been rumored before – Windows Phone will receive video calls over Skype. This functionality is going to be built into the Skype client that can be downloaded from Marketplace. We don’t know for sure if Microsoft will integrate Skype calls in the OS itself. This OS integration has previously been rumored to come in the spring 2012 update, currently called Tango.

Here’s the job description from Skype Careers:

The Role

The video team is responsible for delivering the Skype Video Engine for Skype Desktop clients as well as Mobile and Embedded devices. Nokia Microsoft Windows Phone event

Check this out! An event invitation to a party hosted by both Microsoft and Nokia!  The party will be held in Cologne, Germany, on August 17. The competition is the most interesting part. It appears that Microsoft and Nokia will hand out a Xbox 360 250GB with Kinect, and also a Nokia device with Windows Phone! As far as we know, there’s not a Nokia device on the market that is running Windows Phone. The small print reads as soon as available, but maybe get a glimpse of the device? Just 16 more days to wait. Stat tuned!
