Apple is today rolling out an update to its iTunes App Store. The update will bring the individual apps to match the layout of iTunes 9, that was updated a few months ago. An individual page now shows only the two first lines of an app’s description, making it much more important for the developer to focus on these. The user is still able to hit a …More button to see the full description. Also the application icon is much bigger, multiple screen shots of the application will be shown and other applications by the same developer will be shown automatically.

And those of you who only need the U.S. maps of TomTom, head over to the app store before December 28th to get the application for $49.

We today reported that the TomTom Car Kit was released in the Apple Online Store with a price tag of 99.95€. The store page was soon after that taken down. The weird part was that the product page stated that the iPhone application would also be included in the package.

Now TomTom has released a statement that the application will not be included. So the total price jumped from almost 100€ to nearly 200€ in a few hours.

UPDATE: The TomTom Car Kit has now disappeared from the Online Store. Will post more when there is an update.

I have to say that it looks promising. The car-kit has it’s own GPS chip, so it will be more accurate and faster than what it would be using the A-GPS chip found on the iPhone. Basically, the iPhone only works as the processing unit and a screen for the whole navigator. I think that if I’d be in need of a “true” navigator now, I would go with this.
