Symbian Latino posted the image you see above, which is claimed to be taken at a Nokia Developer Day somewhere in Mexico. The image shows Nokia’s future updates to Symbian, with the mystical Carla and Donna names popping up.
The information in the super-blurry image is a bit hard to read, but it looks to include the following:
Carla
- 8.0 Browser
- Dolby surround
- NFC
- Best Widgets
Donna
- Exclusive Dual core Equipment
Donna is expected to be the final major update to Symbian. Symbian Latino stated that Carla is targeted for a late 2012 or early 2013 release. Apparently every Symbian^3 device will receive Carla, while Donna will only be made available for future hardware.

Symbian, the mobile phone software used on about 330 million phones world wide, went today open source. This means that the software is now completely free to use and edit. The basic OS is now open source, but some phone specific software is not.
The open source version of symbian is called Symbian^3. Previous Symbian versions, S40 and S60, are called Symbian^1.

Soptify today told on their blog that the highly popular service is now available also to Symbian phones. The application doesn’t support all Symbian phones, but you can check compatibility by visiting http://m.spotify.com/ with your phone.
I’d say this is good news for Spotify users, but a very bad thing for Nokia’s Comes With Music service. Nokia’s service costs ~130€ a year, and spotify can be bought with 9.99€ a month. So basically they cost the same, but for most people a monthly plan is much better than a yearly payment.
The application is now available to all three main platforms, Symbian, Android and the iPhone OS. So far there is no word on a possible Maemo support.
Download Spotify for Symbian here.
