HTC has filed a patent for a dual-screen touchscreen phone concept. The ‘other’ screen could be used either as a secondary screen, or then as a QWERTY keyboard. When the phone is opened all the way, it would function as one big screen. The design is much like the one seen on the Nintendo DS, but without the bezel around the display, and of course with full touch support.

Gizmondo points out that the most obvious OS would be Android, since it has already proved good on a dual-screen setup (enTourage eDGe a.k.a the dualbook).

The Apple event just ended, and here are the highlights of what we will see in the iPhone OS version 4.0:

  • Multi-tasking
  • Folders – will let you organize apps and photos
  • Better email handling – Unified inbox, multiple Exchange, fast switching
  • iBooks – Sames as the iPad iBooks
  • Better Enterprise tools – More encryption, multiple Exchange, SSL VPN
  • Game Center – Will allow social gaming
  • iAds – A lot more free apps, but with the cost of ads.

The full iPhone OS 4.0 update can be only applied to the iPhone 3GS  and later to the iPad. The 3G will only support some features of the OS. For instance multi-tasking will not make its way to the iPhone 3G.

We will see the iPhone OS update during this summer, and the iPad version later in the fall. iPhone 4.0 SDK beta is now available for Developers.

According to research firm Zacks, Nokia is facing problems in the Chinese mobile phone market. They have based the results on mobile phone orders from Chinese operators. Orders have become smaller every year. In 2008, China PTAC ordered phones from Nokia with 2 billion USD, last year with 1,7 billion USD and this year the amount will be only 1 billion USD.

Nokia is currently losing market share to RIM’s Blackberry and Apple’s iPhone. In cheaper phones they are losing market share to Samsung, Motorola and local manufacturers.

The Chinese market accounts currently for 16 percent of Nokia’s whole sale. There are currently 750 million mobile phone users, and the current estimation is that by the year 2014 there will be 1,2 billion users. Losing market share in these areas could be crucial in the coming years.

I don’t know how I missed this a few days ago, but Nokia announced the C5.

The phone will come with a 2.2″ screen, 3.2 megapixel camera, 2GB microSD card (expandable to 16GB), FM radio, 3.5mm audio jack and Ovi Maps with free navigation included in the package. Symbian S60 3rd edition is in charge of this phone.

The phone book on the C5 looks different from what we have today. There will be an integration of Facebook in it, which will show images of contacts. Status updates should also be seen in the phone book.

The Nokia C5 will come in two color variations: white and warm grey. The price for this machine will be 135€ before taxes and subsidies.

A few more press images after the break.
