Press Release: Microsoft announces Windows Phone 7.1 a.k.a. Mango

Microsoft today announced the much rumored next big version of Windows Phone. What we previously knew as Mango, will now be called Windows Phone 7.1. This version brings a plethora of new features to the new platform.

Microsoft also stated that they have three new hardware partners: ZTE, Fujitsu Limited and Acer. This next awesome Windows Phone version will be released this fall.

Press Release: Verizon makes calls free to Japan from March 11 to April 10

Verizon Wireless

We previously today reported that AT&T offered free of charge calls to Japan till the end of March. Verizon Wireless answers to this by going free of charge till April 10. Good work from both Verizon Wireless and AT&T!

Here’s a take from the Press Release.

All Verizon Wireless post-paid customers will receive free calling to Japan from March 11 through April 10. Post-paid customers are those who receive a monthly bill from the company. In addition, Verizon Wireless post-paid customers in the U.S. will receive free text and multimedia messaging to Japan for the same time period.

Apple's Christmas iTunes Promotion 12 Days of Christmas Now Live

12daysofchristmasApple’s annual Christmas promotion is now open for registrations. Between December 26th and January 6th, Apple will give out one free item a day from one of their stores (iTunes, App Store). This could be a free game, app, music, movies, TV episodes or books. Last year there was some pretty cool stuff, and I don’t think that they will give out total crap this year either.

The promotion is currently at least available in the UK, but last year it worked in most parts of Europe. Head over to http://www.itunes12daysofchristmas.co.uk/ and enter your e-mail address to be informed when the first app is available.

Nokia N8 Marketing: Biggest Cinema Screen in the World

Nokia continues to break records with their N8 marketing campaign. They previously teamed up with the guys behind Wallace and Gromit to make the world’s smallest smallest stop animation film.

This time they break a new record with world’s largest cinema screen! It was put up in Rosengård, Sweden, and it was 28 m high and 51 m wide. Multiply that and you get a screen of 1428 square meters.  The screen was used to show Price of Persia with the Nokia N8. The phone was connected via its HDMI-output to four XLM HD30-projectors (140kg each).

Orange UK: No White iPhone 4s Until End of This Year

Orange UK have emailed customers who were interested in ordering a white iPhone 4, that they won’t get it before the end of this year.

We wanted to let you know that there won’t be any white iPhone 4′s in the UK until the end of the year.

If you’re happy to wait another few months we’ll let you know as soon as they’re back in stock.

Want an iPhone 4 now?

Alternatively, if you want it now, click here or visit your local Orange shop to get the iPhone 4 Black 16GB or 32GB today.

It’s not sure whether Orange has gotten this from Apple, or if they rely on the press release that Apple issued last month. Apple told that the white iPhone 4 will be available later this year, but didn’t give a more specific time for it. If Orange UK’s info is correct, we’ll still have to wait for another 3-4 months for the white iPhone 4.
