Google HTC Nexus One

Google released Android 2.3.4 last week to the Nexus S. Now, their first developer device, the Nexus One, has also received the update. Android 2.3.4 should go out to Nexus One devices as an OTA update starting today.

However, the Nexus One doesn’t receive all the features that the Nexus S received. For instance the new video Google Talk feature is missing from the Nexus One release.

Google is finally pushing out Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread for Nexus One owners. Some owners experienced a broken Google Voice app after the update. This should be fixed by reinstalling GV.

Here’s how to fix the Google Voice problems:

I had the same problem. I am a Google voice user who used to live in the USA and now back in Australia.

I have a Nexus One and a Desire. I used Astro Backup to take the working version of Google Voice from my desire and I installed it onto my Nexus One. I now have a working Google Voice install on my Nexus One.
The version of Google Voice from my Desire is available below:

Google HTC Nexus One

Google has finally started pushing out Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread for both Nexus One and Nexus S owners. This update will fix the random reboot bug found in the Nexus S. It will also enable NFC writing for Nexus S owners, and let the device act as an NFC tag!

The update should be live now, but could take up to a few weeks to complete. Call *#*#checkin#*#* to force your phone to check for an OTA update :)

Android GingerbreadThe first Google phone ever, the Nexus One, is about to get updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Currently the only device that officially runs on Gingerbread is the Nexus S.

Greg Kumparak from MobileCrunch has chatter at Mobile World Congress that Google will roll out Gingerbread for Nexus One owners in just a few days time!

Google is currently pushing out Android 2.2.2 for Nexus One owners as an Over-The-Air update. The new update is build FRG83G, and allegedly fixes the same SMS bug that Android 2.3.2 fixed for Nexus S owners earlier today.

If you can’t wait for the OTA update to arrive to your phone, follow this link to download it straight from Google’s servers.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread was released on December 17th, 2010, but Nexus One owners are still waiting for their devices to be updated to it. Currently only the Nexus S runs officially on Android 2.3.

When Android 2.2 was released, it took only 6 days for Nexus One owners to receive the update to it. Nexus One is the first Google developer device, and that is why it is expected to receive new Android updates sooner rather than later. Google’s own employees tweeted in December that an OTA update should be available in the coming we weeks, but apparently that didn’t happen. It has now been over a month since Gingerbread was released.

Now however Computerword reports that the update should go live very soon. A Google representative said “there have been no unexpected hurdles and that the rollout should be starting soon”. Let’s hope Nexus One owners receive it soon!

The Google’s long awaited successor to the Nexus One, the Nexus S, is now available in the US. Pocketnow has gotten their hands on this device, and in the video above you’ll see their unboxing of the Nexus S. As you should know by now, the Nexus S is manufactured by Samsung. The Nexus One was manufactured by HTC. I personally like the design a little bit more on the Nexus One, but the Nexus S isn’t a bad looking phone! Ready for some Gingerbread love on some kick-ass hardware!?

Google Nexus S

Google yesterday announced the Nexus S, the successor to the Nexus One. The phone will be available in Europe and USA before the end of this year, but they never mentioned a release date for for instance Russia. Today, I can tell you that it will be available in Russia in February 2011. It will also be a little bit different from the European version, with the Super AMOLED screen switched to a Super Clear LCD panel. Too bad for those who live in Russia.

Android 2.3

Google’s first Developer device, the Nexus One, is now also receiving the long awaited update to Android 2.3, aka. Gingerbread. The update will bring features like a refined UI, new faster text input, new copy and paste system, improved power management and internet calling. The full list of updates can be found here.
