We yesterday announced that the N97 will see a huge update in October, and now we have a video showing the changes.
I think the biggest and best change will be the systemwide kinetic scrolling. This means that you can use kinetic scrolling every time when you see a list, for instance when you’re browsing through your music library.

What has been rumored for long now is that the Nokia N97 will have a little brother anytime soon , called the Nokia N97 Mini. Today those rumors were confirmed at the Nokia World ’09 event. The phone is basically a minimized and cheaper version of the Nokia N97.
The Nokia N97 mini will have a smaller screen, a 3.2″ compared to a 3.5″ screen seen on the N97. The shorter size on the phone will also result in it lacking the navi-keys. The internal memory will also be smaller, 8GB on the mini when the “normal” N97 has 32GB. Also the new version will not have the camera-lens protector that has been causing problems on the N97.
Nokia today finally admitted the problem with the camera-lens on the N97 model. It has been known for a long time that the lid is scratching the lens, but no official word has been said about it until today.
A Nokia spokesperson stated the following:
We have had a few reports where the camera-lens has been scratched by for instance sand grains . We are sorry for this. In these cases you should contact the Nokia support.
In a few cases the camera-lens has been mounted to near the protective glass of the lens. When this happens the space is too small between them, and for instance sand can cause scratches.
The article also states that if this has happened, you should take your phone to the nearest Nokia Service. The warranty service will not of course cost you anything. This time around, they’ll make sure that there is enough space between the lens and the protective glass.

Guys at Nokiausers has put together a video tutorial on how to replace a scratched Nokia N97 lens.
Keep in mind, that if you do this little operation you will also void your warranty. Maybe it’s better to wait for an official word from Nokia on this matter. If you decide to go forward with this operation, here’s the video :)
