The Nokia N97 mini will be released in Scandinavia next week.
The phone will come with a price-tag of 549€ for the standard edition, and the Comes With Music edition will be priced at 679€. Seems quite weird since the “real” N97 is priced at 579€ at the moment(in Finland).
Most of the mini’s will be of the CWM edition, and it will be harder to find stores that sell the phone without the service.
What has been rumored for long now is that the Nokia N97 will have a little brother anytime soon , called the Nokia N97 Mini. Today those rumors were confirmed at the Nokia World ’09 event. The phone is basically a minimized and cheaper version of the Nokia N97.
The Nokia N97 mini will have a smaller screen, a 3.2″ compared to a 3.5″ screen seen on the N97. The shorter size on the phone will also result in it lacking the navi-keys. The internal memory will also be smaller, 8GB on the mini when the “normal” N97 has 32GB. Also the new version will not have the camera-lens protector that has been causing problems on the N97.

Like we learned last week from the FCC documents, the N97 mini isn’t going to be that small after all.
Basically the phone is just like the N97, without the navigation keys and with a smaller capacity. This will make the phone about 1cm shorter in length. According to the reviewer, the phone is a disappointment. The small changes wont be enough to reduce the price that much. He thinks the phone will eat market-share from the N97, and make it a less worthy product.

The “normal” Nokia N97 is seen on left, and the new rumored N97 mini in 1:1 proportion is on the right side. As you can see, the mini isn’t that small after all.

The Nokia Blog has gotten their hands on a few pictures with the rumored Nokia N97 mini. In the pictures above, you can clearly see the Nokia N97, and then another lookalike that is smaller in size. If you for instance compare the keyboards, you can see that the one on right is missing the 4-way navigation key. The screen is also smaller in size, with the result of a narrower phone. Thickness is about the same on both phones.
