Nokia Belle February 7

Nokia Belle February 8 (Google Translated text)

Nokia Vietnam has updated their local site with information of Nokia Belle (previously Symbian Belle). There is now a whole page dedicated to the update, and it states that the download will be available on February 8. Now we don’t know if this is a worldwide release, but I’d bet that at least some other countries will get it simultaneously with Vietnam.

The image shows that the following phones will receive the update to Nokia Belle: Nokia N8, E7, X7, E6, E7 (twice) and C6-01. The Nokia 500 appears to be missing from the list. Could it be that Nokia Vietnam didn’t get the updated memo where the Nokia 500 was added?

Just one week to go, so stay tuned!

Nokia announced today that Nokia Belle (Symbian Belle just got renamed) is now shipping on a selection of smartphones. The ones being shipped with Belle now is the Nokia N8, C7 and C6-01. The first country to receive Belle pre-installed is China, with the rest of the world following soon after.

For those wishing for an OTA update, you still need to wait a bit longer. The OTA update will start to go out in February 2012. The following devices will receive the update to Nokia Belle:

  • Nokia N8
  • Nokia E7
  • Nokia E6
  • Nokia X7
  • Nokia C6-01
  • Nokia C7
  • Nokia Oro

Nokia 803

Nokia 803 (RM-807)

Pocketnow received the user manual for a device called the Nokia 803. The device pictured above is believed to be the successor for the N8. This new imaging flagship will apparently feature an even bigger camera sensor than that seen on the N8.

Other rumored features include Symbian Belle, NFC, HDMI, DLNA, 3.5-inch ClearBlack display with Gorilla Glass, 512MB of RAM, and a 1GHz CPU. The camera is obviously what will make this device desirable, and we’re expecting to see a big camera sensor possibly combined with an optical zoom!

As of now there is no word on when this will be released, but we’re hoping to see it announced at MWC in February.

Just a few more days..!

Nokia N8 service pack 1

Nokia has started the delivery of a very small service pack update for the N8. This is an update to Symbian Anna, so you will not receive Belle. The update includes performance and usability enhancements, faster email and messaging, better GPS locks and much more.

This update is being delivered in the true Nokia way, which is over-the-air. No need to plug the N8 to your computer in order to receive the update. Happy updating!

Apparently Nokia France has leaked out that the Symbian Belle update roll-out will start on October 26. This also happens to be the very first day of Nokia World 2011, so it fits in pretty well.

The update will be available for devices already running Symbian Anna – the N8, C7, E7, C6-01, E6, X7, and possibly the Nokia 500, too. The update will be delivered as an over-the-air update. Additionally you can plug the phone to your computer and download it via Ovi Suite.

Check out this preview of Symbian Belle running on the Nokia N8. Nokia announced the new OS version at an event a week ago, and also said that exciting Symbian Anna devices will receive the update sometime in Q4.

Nokia N8 camera updated viewfinder

Nokia has released a major camera update for the Nokia N8. The update will tweak the camera to make it possibly the best camera phone out there! You’ll need to first update to Symbian Anna before applying this camera update. Nokia has decided to deliver the update via Nokia Beta labs to get it to end-users as soon as possible. Otherwise they’d need to wait for the release of Symbian Belle to deliver this.

Here is the description of the update.

Camera update for Nokia N8
This application is an upgrade to the built-in camera application, for your Nokia N8.  It will look familiar to you, no doubt. It’s still the great N8 camera, providing superb results. We’ve just made it a little better by making some of the improvements we didn’t manage to squeeze into the Symbian Anna release.

  • We tweaked the UI, to provide camera aficionados faster access to essential camera controls
  • We improved the quality of recorded videos, by cranking up the video recording speed to 30 FPS and adding the heavily requested continuous auto-focus.

Read all the nitty-gritty details of the improvements in this post by Damian Dinning at Nokia Conversations.

Compatibility
This camera update is for the Nokia N8 with Symbian Anna. If you do not yet have Symbian Anna, you can check for it athttp://www.nokia.com/softwareupdate or from your device Tools -> SW update.
We will not be releasing similar beta for other products due to the differences in camera hardware.

Nokia has finally started pushing out the long awaited Symbian Anna update to the Nokia E7 and N8. The update should be available via the Nokia Software Updater program. The update should eventually be delivered also over-the-air. Those who can’t wait for the update to hit their devices OTA, fire up the NSU and grab your Anna bits!

Nokia has released a set of Symbian Anna videos for a few Symbian^3 devices out there. The C6-01, N8, E7 and C7 were worthy enough to receive their own video.
