Nokia Beta Labs today released a final version of Ovi Maps 3.04. The new version adds WiFi positioning, performance improvements, zooming and map panning and a number of UI tweaks. It also adds Qype information to your searches.

Here is the post from Nokia Beta Labs.

Hi all,

We are pleased to announce that Ovi Maps for mobile (3.04) has graduated from Nokia Beta Labs! Many thanks for your feedback over the last few weeks – these are extremely valuable to help us in creating the best maps experience.

We do go through ever single posting and try where possible to implement some of your suggestions.  In addition, one of the important areas we have been focusing on is the engagement/communication between you and the product development teams. I know there are still areas of improvement, but I hope this has been a good progress so far :-)

For more information see the Ovi Blog post New Ovi Maps: Faster. Better. Personal. or check out the video.

Please go ahead and download the graduated version of Ovi Maps from nokia.com/mapsOvi Store or from your mobile via nokia.mobi/maps & Software Update.  At this point all feedback/support requests should go through customer service.

Many thanks

Kee
Ovi Maps team

The Nokia N900 doesn’t have its own Google Maps application, but it is still possible to use Google Maps. To use it, you simply go to google.com/maps/m with the web browser on the Nokia N900. Of course, the user experience isn’t as good as with a real application, but this method will let you use Google Maps on your precious N900.

Guys from phandroid have gotten their hands on Motorola Droid running Android 2.0, and demos Google Maps Navigation in this video. The video itself is quite bad, but you can at least see small glimpses of the application. Enjoy!

A little correction to the post that I made yesterday, Google’s turn-by-turn navigation is first coming to Android 2.0, and after that possibly to the iPhone. Sorry about the mess-up in the last post :)

But what I didn’t write about in the last post, is that Google Maps Navigation will automatically jump when possible into street-view when arriving at the destination. This is what I call a nice feature!

Google is possibly developing their own turn-by-turn navigation software for the iPhone. And the best part is, that this app would be totally free. The application would contain target specific ads, but that is only a minor con.

This would be a very big thing for iPhone users, since they would all have an own “real” navigator in their pocket, and without the cost of a normal navigator.

If this turns out to be true, all the other phone-makers needs to come up with something to compete with(except the Nokia Navigator phones with a life-time license to voice-navigation).
