HTC HD2 getting Windows Phone Mango tomorrow?

DFT HTC HD2 Mango

The HTC HD2 was once THE smartphone to have. Even in today’s standards this is a powerful device. The Dark Forces Team has earlier shown what they’re capable of doing with the HD2. They’ve successfully already installed Android on it, and it will now be followed by Windows Phone Mango!

The image you see above was presented by DFT earlier this week. They say that we could see a public release as early as tomorrow. The team tells that there are some things that will not work on the HD2, like all the live services and the Marketplace. Still, this is an awesome hack for HD2 owners.

HTC HD2 officially announced

HTC today announced the long rumored HTC HD2. It is the same phone that was once known as HTC Leo. It will also be the first Windows Mobile 6.5 -phone with a capacitive screen.

The best parts about this phone is definitely the screen and the CPU. The screen will be an enormus 4.3″ capacitive touch screen, and the CPU will be a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon. It will also have a 5MP camera with auto-focus.

The HD2 will be released later this month to selected European carriers, and around the world in the coming months.

HTC HD2 TouchFLO 3D seen on video

The video shows a beta version of the TouchFLO 3D interface running on top of Windows Mobile 6.5, which will be seen on the coming HTC HD2 (formerly HTC Leo). The guys at PocketNow has managed to get this version installed on their Touch Diamond2. Check out the video after the break.

HTC HD2 (aka Leo) will launch in UK on October 12th?

Out goes the HTC Leo name, and in comes the HTC HD2 which will be this phone’s official name.

Engadget has an anonymous tipster who tells that the HTC HD2 will be released on October 12th in the United Kingdom. The leak comes from O2′s intranet, so my guess is that this is the correct day.

HTC Leo will be called HD2?

HTC-Leo

Now this 4.3″ device has three possible names, Leo, HD2 or PRO.THREE. We’ve called the device HTC Leo for a longer time now, but the HD2 comes from the device ID when you connect it via Bluetooth.  If you check the images after the break, you’ll see that the HTC PRO.THREE name is printed on the back of the device.

When you look at the video and see how fast it reacts to the finger movements, I think that you could make the conclusion that the screen will be capacitive.

Check out the gigantic size of this device! The new HTC Leo will have a huge 4.3″ touchscreen, with a crazy resolution of 800×480. This little baby will also sport a 1GHz processor!! You’d need a handbag to take this thing with you, or then you’ll have to get your pockets widened or something :) Check out a few more pictures after the break.
