Steve JobsShocking news this morning – Steve Jobs has died at the age of 56. Steve Jobs passed away after a long struggle with cancer.

While being the CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs brought the following revolutionary products to the market: iTunes (2003), the iPhone (2007), the App Store (2008), and the iPad (2010). The whole technology industry has a lot to learn from this magnificent guy. Thank you for all that you’ve done!

R.I.P. Steve Jobs!

Update: Apple has released a statement on the matter, hit View Post to read it.

Here’s a developer’s story on how Apple actually manages to keep their products from getting leaked. The developer, who unsurprisingly wanted to stay anonymous in this case, was working on a software project ahead the launch of the original iPad. He wrote that he was the probably the sixth person outside of Apple to get a glimpse of the iPad.

Here’s a take from the interview by Business Insider:

The criteria was that we had to have a room with no windows. They changed the locks on the door.

Three developers and I were the only people allowed to go in the room. Apple needed the names and social security numbers of the people who had access.

Apple needed to be able to drill a hole in the desk and chain the devices to desk. They used those bicycle cables.

They had these custom frames built around them so we couldn’t even tell what the iPads looked like. We could plug into them so we could code to them and we could touch the screen and play with that, but we couldn’t see the form factor.

Then they took pictures of the wood grain. If any pictures leaked out, they could trace it back to which desk they came from.

I wasn’t allowed to tell our CEO. I wasn’t allowed to tell anybody anything about what we were doing. I couldn’t even tell my wife. She was like, “You’re going to get fired if this doesn’t work.”

Nothing more serious, eh? ;)

The guys over at Symbianworld has put together a video to show you how (Nokia)  Ovi Maps is working on an iPad. They use the beta HTML5 version of Ovi Maps, and it runs rather great. It doesn’t beat a native navigation app, but it is still cool to see that you can do this with HTML5!

We’ll never stop doing the things we love, but with the iPad we’ll do them in amazing new ways.

Here’s a pretty cool “magical” iPad video. Kudos go out to Simon Pierro for making this awesome video!
