Check out this video comparison, made by the guys over at Pocketnow, between Apple’s iOS 4 and Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. It is a hefty 18 minutes and 30 seconds, so go and grab a drink before watching it!
Microsoft was largely accused to be the cause of Windows Phone 7′s phantom data usage. However, it turned out to be a fault in Yahoo’s email system, which sent too large FETCH responses when checking for emails. Yahoo! responded to this by blaming the way Microsoft chose to implement this in WP7, and said that every other platform has gotten it right.
Now, Rafael Rivera, the same guy who found out of the original bug, has also noticed that this same behavior can be found on Apple’s iPhone. So, it appears that the FETCH bug isn’t isolated to Windows Phone 7, but will also cause heavy data usage when using Yahoo’s email on an iPhone.
Here’s a demo of Apple’s HDR image captre that you’ll see in the iOS 4.1 update, that is scheduled to arrive this Wednesday.
The HDR image is actually a combination of many images. The camera captures the image with many different exposure settings, and they are later combined into one final image by the software.
Pretty darn cool technology demonstration of Unreal Engine 3 for iOS 4 devices. If you have an iPhone 4 or an iPad, I’d recommend you download the free preview of Epic Citadel from the App Store.
The Dev-Team today announced that they will move focus from iOS 4.0.2 to the upcoming iOS 4.1. This means that you will not be able to jailbreak an iOS 4.0.2 running device, or at least the Dev-Team will not bring it.
So now, people will begin to ask: will there be a jailbreak for devices that shipped with 4.0.2/3.2.2, out of the box?
No, there won’t be. FW 4.0.2/3.2.2 was *only* released to fix the jailbreakme hole. With FW 4.1 still in its beta stages, it makes no sense to escalate the “cat & mouse” with Apple for FW updates that only fix the jailbreak holes. To quote WOPR, “the only winning move is not to play”.
According to a redmonpie tipster, iOS 4.0.2 will be released in the coming hours. This will fix the PDF security issue in Safari, that made jailbreaking possible on the iPhone 4.
When iOS 4.0.2 is released, stay away from it if you want to jailbreak and unlock your device! It is highly recommended that you save your SHSH Blobs now, so that you can restore to iOS 4.0.1 if you accidentally upgrade to 4.0.2. Instructions on how to save your SHSH blobs can be found here.
Don’t like to see iAds on your iOS 4 device? Well, now there is an app that can kill those. To disable iAds, you simply need to install an application on your jailbroken iOS 4 device, and you’re done.
Add http://apt.macosmovil.com to Sources in Cydia. After this you should be able to search and install iAdKiller in Cydia.
The official Facebook for iPhone and iPod touch just got updated to version 3.1.4. The update adds support for iOS 4 with high resolution icons and fast app switching. It also brings localization support for Korean and Russian, and includes minor bug fixes. The update can be obtained for free via the App Store.
