Alleged Windows Phone 7.6 Tango screen shot

Alleged Windows Phone 7.6 Tango screenshot

I really don’t know what to make of this. The image above is from a Swiss site that claims to have information of Windows Phone Tango. First, they claim that Windows Phone Tango will be Windows Phone 7.6 (image of build 7.20.1050.5). The original version was 7.0, and Mango is 7.5, so 7.6 for Tango sounds possible. What is more interesting is that they also claim Tango to bring Skype and Google+ integration. The image HAS to be a fake. Google+ is spelled as “Google +”, with a space before the +. Additionally, the double-o in Facebook and Google+ don’t have the same font-spacing. The third thing in the image that doesn’t really compute, is that the watermark is behind the text.

The image is obviously a fake, but could the intel be correct? Would it make sense to bring Google+ integration to the platform? Skype is already on its way to the platform, but will it be ready for Tango, or will Microsoft have to postpone it till Apollo? ALOT of questions remain unanswered. I guess we just have to wait :(

Google launched the public beta of Google+, the company’s social network alternative, last week. Google also released an Android client for Google+ users out there. Now, Ridzuan Ashim, a software engineer, has found that the Android client actually supports NFC-chips.

Currently, the NFC-chip can only be used for reading text from an NFC-tag. The text of the NFC-tag will be used by Google+ as a status message. This feature could be used, for instance, to share you location via Google+.

Jay Yarrow wrote in an article for Business Insider that Google is paying Apple $100 million a year for the default search engine deal on the iPhone.

Another interesting fact about Yarrow’s article, is that he basically kills the rumor about Apple entering the search business with its own Search engine.

The Google phone is real, and will be called Nexus One! Google’s employees around the world have gotten their hands on the long rumored Google Phone. The phone will be manufactured by HTC, and designed by Google. This phone will be to Google what the iPhone is to Apple, since Google dictates every little bit of the phone from the hardware to the software. You will not see any carrier modified Nexus One phones, since it’s Googles will that the phone always comes unlocked. Here is what is knows of the phone at the moment:

  • Will run on Android 2.1
  • High resolution AMOLED screen
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that is said to be “really, really fast”
  • Two mics, one in the back to reduce background noise(technology used in for instance the Nokia BH-904)
  • “Weirdly” large camera
  • Voice to Text -feature

The phone will be released in 1Q2010

Google today announced and released their mobile-formatted Google News. It is accessible via http://news.google.com. It supports Apple’s iPhone, the whole Android platform, and Palm’s Pre. In the future we should also see a Windows Mobile, Symbian S60 and Blackberry version.

Guys from phandroid have gotten their hands on Motorola Droid running Android 2.0, and demos Google Maps Navigation in this video. The video itself is quite bad, but you can at least see small glimpses of the application. Enjoy!

A little correction to the post that I made yesterday, Google’s turn-by-turn navigation is first coming to Android 2.0, and after that possibly to the iPhone. Sorry about the mess-up in the last post :)

But what I didn’t write about in the last post, is that Google Maps Navigation will automatically jump when possible into street-view when arriving at the destination. This is what I call a nice feature!

Geo-tagged Sponsored Links have started to appear in iPhone’s Maps application. There is also talk that user-generated content has made it’s way to the maps. You can see the sponsored links highlighted in the search results.

chromeospreview

This has nothing to do with mobile phones, but I still think this is worth seeing. The video shows Google’s unreleased operating system, the Chrome OS. Chrome OS was designed to work mainly on netbooks and tablets. Seems like a pretty decent OS so far.

Check out the video after the break!

UPDATE: Apparently this video is a fake. Sorry :)

9-18-09gggvPhil Schiller is Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing, and he is the guy who pulled the plug on Google Voice.

Last time when this subject was on the table, it seemed that no-one was willing to take the blame. Guess we now know who’s responsible.
