Samsung has just released the long awaited Froyo (Android 2.2) update for their Galaxy S users. It is now available to download via Kies, the PC software used for updating. In Samsung’s terms, this update is called JP6. This should eventually become available in more regions.
Ok Galaxy S users, are you ready for some JIT goodies!?
A pretty long list of known issues for the Samsung Fascinate leaked today. Samsung Fascinate is Verizon Wireless’ version of the international Samsung Galaxy S (and called Samsung Captivate at AT&T).
A few days ago a British woman claimed that she was the world’s fastest texter on a Samsung Galaxy S with the Swype keyboard. She spelled “the razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human” in 25.94 seconds.
In the video above, you can see someone (Gumballtech?) write the same text in under 22 seconds on an iPhone, with a standard QWERTY-keyboard. Can you see the speed of those fingers!?
Samsung announced yesterday announced a Snow White version of their Samsung Galaxy S. The phone has a white back cover, a silver bezel and a black frame around the screen. The previously leaked all white phone didn’t happen, but I think this one looks better.
Maybe we’ll see an international launch for the white color in the near future?
Check out this browser comparison video between the new BlackBerry Torch 9800, iPhone 4 and Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S). The Torch 9800 runs on Blackberrys new OS 6, the iPhone 4 on iOS 4 and the Samsung Captivate on Google’s Android OS.
Samsung UK has confirmed that the Galaxy S will get Android 2.2, aka Froyo, in late September. It is the European version that gets updated then. So far no no word on Froyo for Vibrant (T-Mobile USA) or Captivate (AT&T).
Here is what @SamsungUKMobile wrote:
We’ve seen a lot of Q’s about the Froyo update; it’s currently in development & will be released for all networks at the end of September…
Samsung has released a TV ad in USA. The Galaxy S will be renamed into Captivate on AT&T, and into Vibrant on T-Mobile. The devices are identical, but the Vibrant will come preloaded with Avatar on the 2GB microSD card that comes with the phone.
