Frash was yesterday released as a downloadable .deb package, but it needed a few extra steps to install. Now, it has been added to a repository, for easier installation via Cydia. You simply need to add http://repo.benm.at to your sources list in Cydia, and after that you should be able to search and install Frash 0.02.

Pretty easy way to enable Flash on your iPhone 4, isn’t it?

Jailbreakme 2.0 Spirit

Yesterday, when Jailbreakme 2.0 Spirit was released to the public, I wrote that I had successfully jailbroken my iPhone 4. However, I did have a problem with my iPhone 3GS, and I couldn’t get it jailbroken.

One fix is to open up Settings -> Safari, and clear History, Cookies and Cache. For me this fix didn’t work, so I had to do a ‘Reset All Settings’. This can be done by opening Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings. After this trick I got my 3GS to successfully install Cydia.

Please feel free to write if you have any other problems with the jailbreak!

Took a few hi-res images of the display on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS. On left we have the iPhone 4, and on right the 3GS.

The images were taken with a Canon EOS 40D with a 200mm lens (the camera has a 1.6x crop so the 35mm equivalent is 320mm).

iPhone 4 Case Program

The iPhone 4 has gotten a lot of bad publicity in form of complaints and whining with how they have handled the ‘Antennagate’ situation.

Personally, I haven’t noticed a significant difference when placing my finger on the ‘weak-spot’, or by holding the phone in a death-grip kind of way. For those who complain, Apple has issued a free Case Program, that will let you order a free bumper or a case from Apple.

To do this, you have to download a program from the App Store called ‘iPhone 4 Case Program’. The program will ask for your iTunes account password, and will after that take you to a selection of free bumpers and cases. When you click on a bumper / case, you’ll see a gallery short description of it. Also an estimated delivery time is given to you. After you’ve chosen which bumper or case you’d like to receive, you just have to accept or edit the suggested delivery address and click submit. If everything went well, you’ll shortly receive a confirmation email where you’ll find the expected delivery date.

I just ordered my free case, and it is expected to be delivered as follows:

We estimate your order to be shipped by 06 Sep, 2010.
We expect your order will arrive by post to your shipping address on or before 09 Sep, 2010.

Two thumbs how Apple has done this, and how easy it was for me to order the case.

I’m currently in the iPhone 4 queue in Vaasa, Finland. I’m the 8th person to arrive here. The local time is now 3:20, and they’ll start selling at 9:00.

Good timing since only the first 10 persons will get their beloved phone immediately, the rest will be delivered sometime in the future.
Happy queuing! :)
