CJ from ZOMGItsCJ noticed that his Nokia E71 received an update to version 71 today! This looks to be the same update that has been hitting a selection of older Symbian devices during the last few days. The biggest changes is the new and improved browser also seen in Symbian Anna, and then an updated version of Ovi Maps.

CJ noticed the following changes in version 71.004 for the Nokia E71.

  • Web Browser updated to v7.3.1.26
  • Ovi Maps updated to v3.04 10wk32 b04
  • Smiley support in SMS / MMS
  • Mail client updated to v3.13
  • All round performance improvement

 


Nokia E71 - White

The Nokia E71 just received a new firmware update. The new version (v501.21.001) can be obtained as an over-the-air update, and should be available in selected markets now. As always, it can take some time before the update reaches your region. v501 brings the following changes:

  • Ovi Maps 3.03 Lite with free navigation
  • New version of Music player
  • New version of Ovi Store
  • Office 2007 support
  • Usability and performance improvements

Nokia E71 - White

Together with the N97, N97 mini, 6700, Nokia continued with yet another firmware update today. The Nokia E71 firmware update, version 500.21.009, is a fairly big update. The biggest new feature is the free voice navigation. The update will be available via NSU (Nokia Sotware Updater). Remember that the E71 doesn’t have UDP, so you need to make a full backup of your system before proceeding.

Nokia Beta Labs just released a new version of their Nokia Messaging for Social Networks. The update adds support for the Nokia E63, E71 and E72.

Nokia just released a new firmware for three Eseries phones, the E63, E66 and E71. The new version is 410.21.010. This new version can be downloaded via the Nokia Software Update service. Remember to do a full back-up of your system before updating, since these Nokia phones doesn’t have the User Data Preservation(UDP) feature.

The latest version of Ovi Maps with free walk and drive navigation has been available on a range of devices such as the Nokia E72, Nokia N97 mini, and X6 since January. After listening to customer feedback though, the Ovi Maps team have now created a version that works on Nokia E71 and Nokia E66.

To enjoy free navigation with Ovi Maps on Nokia E71 and Nokia E66 devices, you should follow these simple steps:

1. Download the new Ovi Maps application from nokia.com/maps to your PC
2. Install the application using Ovi Suite to your device
3. Go to applications folder and start using Ovi Maps

Note to users: if users do not install the new Ovi Maps application, they will be prompted to pay the one year navigation license of 9.99 EUR if they start using the drive and walk navigation feature.

Ovi Maps compatible devices include the Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, Nokia E52, Nokia E55, Nokia E72, Nokia 5230, Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia 6730 classic, Nokia X6, Nokia N86 8MP and with different functionality the Nokia E71, and Nokia E66.

The Nokia E71 today got a new firmware update, and this time around it is a major update. This brings both new applications and bug fixes. Nokia Messaging has been updated, and Ovi Contacts added as a new program. Nokia has also managed to iron out both minor and major bugs of the operating system, the biggest of them seen in the following programs: Internet Radio, Quickoffice and Ovi Store. A feature previously only seen in the E72, Mail For Exchange, has also been added.

The update brings the version number up to 400.21.213. Update your phone via Nokia Software Update, or then via FOTA by entering the following code into your device *#0000#.

  • E66 v. 300.21.012 – This software release comes with a new version of Nokia messaging and Hotmail application, and improved HTML support. Additionally, the software release includes several performance improvements.
  • E71 v. 300.21.012 – This software release comes with a new version of Nokia messaging and Hotmail application, and improved HTML support. Additionally, the software release includes several performance improvements.
  • E96 v. 30.033 – This software release comes with a Facebook application and improved ringtone audio levels. Additionally, the release includes several performance improvements. To get this software through your device, type in *#0000# on the home screen or go to Device Manager. Select Options > Check for updates and follow the on screen prompts.

All of the updates above are also available through NSU. Get them while they’re hot :)


Nokia-E71-vs-E72

Mobile@mail.ru has posted some pictures of the new Nokia E72. The E72 is the successor of the E71. The phone has gotten a fairly nice update on the hardware part. Compared to the old one, the new one has a 3,5mm audio-jack, 5MP camera and the very fast 10,2Mbps HSDPA connection. And the new phone also looks better than the E71 :) More pictures after the brake!
