Sony Ericsson X10 mini pro - Black

The first shipment of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 mini pro arrived today at the store where I work.  The X10 mini pro is exactly the same as the X10 mini, but with an added QWERTY keyboard. The Android 1.6 powered little phone comes with a 600MHz processor, 2.6″ capacitive touch screen, 5MP camera, A-GPS, micro USB connector, microSD card, Bluetooth with support for A2DP, WiFi and a FM radio with RDS support.

I personally think that Sony Ericsson has done a good job with the XPERIA X10 mini pro. The screen is small, but with the full keyboard it feels quite good in your hand. Build quality also seems good, and the spring that opens the QWERTY slider is good.

T-Mobile Samsung Behold II

Samsung has started pushing out FOTA updates to the Samsung Behold II phone. The first updated appeared yesterday, and they should continue to drop in till Friday 25th.

What makes this update interesting, is the fact that it only updated Android to version 1.6 (Donut). Remember that thing that was released sometime in September 2009? -Yeah, just that.

Samsung has previously told that this is the last major update that the Samsung Behold II will receive, so enjoy :)

Android 2.1 (Eclair) now accounts for 45.1% of all Android devices. Android 1.5 (Cupcake) comes in second with a share of 27.6%, and Android 1.6 (Donut) comes in third with a share of 26.8%. Android 2.2 still didn’t make it to the list since there isn’t a final version of it out in the wild. The final release of Android 2.2 (Froyo) should follow during the coming few weeks.

Sprint today released the awaited update for their HTC Hero. The Hero has previously been running on Android 1.5, and today got updated to Android 2.1. Here is what you can wait to see on your new Eclair installation:

This update includes:

  • Upgraded operating system to Android 2.1 Eclair
  • Enhancements to sense user interface (UI)
  • Enhanced corporate email support
  • Variety of minor bug fixes

The HTC Hero is still running the now outdated Android 1.5 OS. There has been numerous rumors on when it will receive an update to Android 2.1, and now it again appears that we have a new date for the update. This time the info has leaked from Best Buy’s internal news, and states that Sprint’s HTC Hero will receive the update on Friday, May 21st.

There have been some questions about this update. It is a firmware update. Due to changes made by H……. again, the deployment was delayed. The update will be in all stores by Friday, May 21st.

We’ll know for sure this on Friday :)

A few days ago we posted about a leaked Sprint document stating that their HTC Hero would see the long awaited update to Android 2.1.

Today, we have bad news for you again. Sprint’s forum admin has now removed the post where this info appeared, and commented it as follows: “Closing this thread because I don’t want folks to think that 2.1 is coming out on the 7th.”. So there it is, highly possible that we won’t see Sprint’s HTC Hero updated to Android 2.1 today.

Sony Ericsson today wrote on their official blog that the X10 series (X10, X10 mini and X10 mini Pro) will get the long awaited Android 2.1 update in Q4 2010.

Every XPERIA X10 phone is currently running on the already dated Android 1.6. I personally think that Sony Ericsson has messed this whole line. We will see Android 2.2 (Froyo) in the coming months, and version 2.3 could be behind the door when the Sony Ericsson X10 receives its update. Bad move from Sony Ericsson, I wont be happy to sell these anymore. Feels like I would be cheating the customer.. ;)

Android 1.5, aka Cupcake, is still the biggest Android OS version with a share of 37.2%. Eclair(2.1) comes in at second place with a share of 32.4%, and Donut (1.6) third with a share of 29.4%.

This is one of Android’s biggest problems, and it should be fixed with the coming release of Froyo (2.2). Google is trying to fix this issue with version fragmentation by moving some of the applications bundled with Android to the Android Market, and thereby making OEM customization easier. This will make development of for instance HTC’s Sense UI faster, and we will see faster adaption of new Android versions on the market.
