Nokia Lumia 800 Software Update available

Nokia Lumia 800 Software Update available

Nokia started the delivery of a software update for the Nokia Lumia 800 yesterday.

The update brings a number of performance and usability enhancements  including:

  • Charging improvements
  • Voicemail notification improvement
  • Replying to mail improved for Microsoft Exchange 2003 users
  • Improved display switching in bright light
  • Improved audio quality

The update can be installed by connecting your Lumia to Zune. Nokia has also promised a second update in early 2012 to even further improve the Lumia experience.


Windows Phone 7.5 logo officialThose who have a thing for changelogs are in luck. Microsoft just published a changelog of every Windows Phone update to date. You can easily see that the latest update for instance came with the following changes:

Update 7.10.7740.16

Email threads. Fixes an email issue related to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. With this fix, when you reply to or forward a message, the original message is now included in your response.

Voicemail. Fixes a voicemail notification display issue that occurs on some European and Asian networks under certain conditions.

This update is available only in certain markets.

Jason of Smashpop has made a video showing the features of the PR1.1 update for the Nokia N9.

The official changelog of PR1.1 includes the following changes:

  • NFC tag reading to instantly interact with NFC tags
  • Music controls on lock screen
  • Photo and video shooting with color filters: black & white, sepia, vivid, negative, solarize
  • More powerful multitasking with improved memory handling
  • Swype for fast typing
  • Faster MfE synch, synchronizing only active folders
  • Noice cancellation reduces background noise so that your friends hear you better
  • Close apps easily with swiping down, this now on by default
  • New indicators for standby screen like charging and calendar
  • etc

Nokia N950

Nokia just released a new firmware for the developer device N950. This will update the phone’s firmware from Beta 1 to Beta 2 (34-2).

Changes from Nokia N950 Beta 1 (22-6) to Nokia N950 Beta 2 (34-2):

  • Number of bug fixes and changes have been implemented
  • “Developer Edition” status bar has been removed
  • “Developer Edition” background watermarking has been removed
  • Ovi Store client has been added, replacing the “coming soon” splash screen in Beta1
  • Ovi Music client has been added
  • Twitter client has been added
  • Angry Birds application has been added
  • Wi-Fi hotspot application has been added
  • AP Mobile application has been added
  • AccuWeather application has been added
  • SDK installer has been removed from eMMC memory. It is available at http://developer.nokia.com/swipe

CJ from ZOMGItsCJ noticed that his Nokia E71 received an update to version 71 today! This looks to be the same update that has been hitting a selection of older Symbian devices during the last few days. The biggest changes is the new and improved browser also seen in Symbian Anna, and then an updated version of Ovi Maps.

CJ noticed the following changes in version 71.004 for the Nokia E71.

  • Web Browser updated to v7.3.1.26
  • Ovi Maps updated to v3.04 10wk32 b04
  • Smiley support in SMS / MMS
  • Mail client updated to v3.13
  • All round performance improvement

 


Nokia N97 mini V30

Nokia continues to push out new firmwares to their older devices. Today the Nokia N97 mini started receiving its awaited update that brings the new Symbian Anna browser and a new version of Ovi Maps.

Changelog for version 30.0.004 for the Nokia N97 mini:

  • New, faster version of the web browser, including web search integrated into the web address field, and support for multiple windows -  v7.3
  • New Ovi Maps  3 SR6
  • New set of emoticons

Nokia c3-01 silver

Nokia just released a new firmware for the C3-01. The updated software version is 6.00. Be sure to make a backup of your phone before upgrading!

This software release comes with new swipe features. You can unlock your device by swiping from left to right. When on the home screen, you can open the Collection view by swiping from left to right, and the Games view by swiping from right to left. This release also brings other performance and usability improvements.To get this software through your device, type in *#0000# on the home screen or go to Device Manager. Select Options > Check for updates and follow the on-screen prompts. Alternatively, this software release is available through the Nokia Ovi Suite.


Nokia C2-01

Nokia just released a minor update for the Nokia C2-01.

This software release brings general performance and usability improvements. To get this software through your device, type in *#0000# on the home screen or go to Device Manager. Select Options > Check for updates and follow the on-screen prompts. Alternatively, this software release is available through the Nokia Ovi Suite.

Nokia X2-00 Black White Blue Red

The Nokia X2-00 just got updated to version 8.17. Here’s the official changes:

This software release comes with an additional web browser, called Ovi Browser. A number of other performance and usability improvements are also included. To get this software through your device, type in *#0000# on the home screen or go to Device Manager. Select Options > Check for updates and follow the on-screen prompts. Alternatively, this software release is available through the Nokia Ovi Suite

To update, fire up your Nokia Ovi Suite, or type in *#0000* on your X2-00.


Nokia C1 black silver

Nokia released a new firmware for botht the C1-01 and C1-02. The update brings the same changes, and will update your phone’s software to version 4.40. Here’s the changelog:

This software release brings general usability and performance improvements. To get this software through your device, type in *#0000# on the home screen or go to Device Manager.
