Nokia C5-00 Renamed to Nokia C5 mini? (Update: No)
Jonne Eilimö | November 16, 2010 15:56 UTC | 2 comments |
Nokia Finland just updated their homepage with an interesting new icon. The Nokia C5-00 is on sale now for 149€, but what is interesting is the fact that they call it the “Nokia C5 mini”.
I’ve always thought that the new naming scheme is a little bit special. The Nokia C5-00 launched first, and a while ago the Nokia C5-03 was launched. During this time the ‘original’ Nokia C5-00 has used the marketing name of Nokia C5, while the new C5-03 doesn’t have a marketing name yet. Should both of those be called the Nokia C5, or should we have some other kind of marketing name for it? What if the Nokia C5-00 gets renamed to Nokia C5 mini, and the new Nokia C5-03 will be called for instance the Nokia C5 touch? The Nokia C5 mini is the first indication of this kind of activity on Nokia’s side.
Update: Nokia just commented on this post, to let us know that this was just a typo from their marketing department. The mini was accidentally added there from last weeks campaign, which featured the Nokia N97 mini.

I don’t know how I missed this a few days ago, but Nokia announced the C5.
The phone will come with a 2.2″ screen, 3.2 megapixel camera, 2GB microSD card (expandable to 16GB), FM radio, 3.5mm audio jack and Ovi Maps with free navigation included in the package. Symbian S60 3rd edition is in charge of this phone.
The phone book on the C5 looks different from what we have today. There will be an integration of Facebook in it, which will show images of contacts. Status updates should also be seen in the phone book.
The Nokia C5 will come in two color variations: white and warm grey. The price for this machine will be 135€ before taxes and subsidies.
A few more press images after the break.
All About Phones is reporting that the Nokia C6 will not be the previously rumored ‘Mystic’, but a whole different phone with a touchscreen display. Actually nothing else is known about this, other than the name C6, touchscreen and a price point of around 200€.
We sure will know more when Mobile World Congress starts next Monday. The C-series should be released dunring MWC.
