iPhone 4 Flickr cameraFlickr is the most popular photo sharing service available. But what is the most popular camera used to snap these pictures? The Nikon D90 has for long been the single most popular camera used on Flickr. This changed today, when Apple’s iPhone 4 became the most popular used camera!

Flickr most used cameraphones

In the cameraphones category the iPhone 4 is obviously also the most used, but it is followed by the iPhone 3G and 3GS. The first non-Apple cameraphone is the HTC Evo 4G, which is the fourth most used smartphones. The fifth spot is grabbed again by Apple, with the iPod touch.

The iPhone 4 is certainly not the best cameraphone out there, but it is the most used one.

German researchers have cracked the keychain file inside the iPhone. This basically means that passwords can be retrieved from a stolen iPhone. Passwords used in your Gmail, MS Exchange, LDAP, voicemail, VPN, WiFi and some apps can be retrieved.

Here’s what it does:

The attack works because the cryptographic key on current iOS devices is based on material available within the device and is independent of the passcode

If your iPhone is stolen, be sure to change your passwords everywhere!

The iPhone has again been hit by an alarm-bug. This time around the new year made the clock go booboo, and it didn’t wake up people on time today. This actually happened in our family today too, so I can confirm that it is causing problems. Somehow this bug will auto-correct itself tomorrow, on January 3rd. Apparently the bug only affect January 2nd (and 1st?). Apple should now, once and for all fix this bug! We don’t need another daylight saving bug or any other of these alarm bugs!

In the video above, you can see the guts of the iPhone 3GS. Imagine the work needed to fit all of that inside the case and even try to make it as stable as possible.

iPhone 4 Flashlight Drunk

According to a report by SquareTrade, largest independent warranty provider in the world, the iPhone 4 breaks more easily than its predecessor, the iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 4 breaks 82 precent more than the iPhone 3GS.

Highlights of the study include:

  • iPhone 4 owners reported 82 percent more damaged screens in the first four months compared to iPhone 3GS owners
  • More than 25 percent of damage reported was to the glass on the back of the unit
  • The reported accident rate for the iPhone 4 was 68 percent higher than for the iPhone 3GS
  • An estimated 15.5 percent of iPhone 4 owners will have an accident within a year of buying their phone
  • iPhone 4 screen damage is responsible for more than four-fifths of reported accidents during thelast four months, slightly higher than the iPhone 3GS during the same time period.

I broke my iPhone 4 during the first two months. I’ve had the 3G and 3GS both for over a year, and I never broke those.. Be careful with your iPhone 4!

GreenPois0n Jailbreak

Chronic Dev Team just announced that GreenPois0n for iOS 4.1 is now available to download for Windows comptuers. The Mac version is currently unavailable, but should follow later.

Sorry about the Mac button on the website. It is not yet available, but it is being worked on, hang tight. We appreciate your patience.

greenpois0n only works on firmware 4.1, so (only if you have an iPhone 4!) if you are on a lower firmware make sure you use TinyUmbrella to preserve your baseband.

Download: http://www.greenpois0n.com/

Initially, this will be a Windows-only release. This is due to some technical complications that we soon hope to correct. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thanks to geohot for the bootrom USB exploit. We have opted to use that instead of SHAtter for the sake of exploit presevation.

This release of greenpois0n supports:
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 3G S
- iPod touch (4th Generation)
- iPod touch (3rd Generation)
- iPad

Soon there will be another release, adding things like support for:
- Apple TV (2nd Generation)
- iPod touch (2nd Generation)

Pretty cool thing, the iPhone is launched into space by guys from Brooklyn. The iPhone itself wasn’t used to shoot the video footage, but to track the GPS location of the shuttle.

Navigon iPhone 4 Design Car Kit

Navigon has finally released their Design Car Kit for the iPhone 4. I’ve personally been waiting for this to be released ever since I bought my iPhone 4. The car kit will retail for 49€ (23% VAT included).

Btw, expect to read our Navigon MobileNavigator review in the coming two weeks. I’ve now tested it for two months on both the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4.

Clayton, the hacker behind this video and exploit, says that this could possibly be the entry point for a future unlock for baseband version 05.12.02. That is the baseband that iOS 4.1 uses, and it hasn’t been jailbroken at the time of writing this post.

Just sit back and relax and hope for an unlock for iOS 4.1 :)

Angry Birds 1.4.1 iPhone

The most popular game (at least here in Scandinavia), Angry Birds, just got updated to version 1.4.1. The biggest new feature is the addition of 15 new levels (page 10, levels 1-15). Open up App Store to grab this update. If you don’t have this game yet, I’d recommend you spending 0.79€ on it, it’s well worth it.
