Apple hasn’t actually told much about the technical specifications of the iPhone 4. We for instance don’t know the speed of the CPU, and until today we haven’t known the amount of RAM it carries. The 3G has 128MB, the 3GS has 256MB and the iPad has 256MB. Apple told at the WWDC to developers that the iPhone 4 will have 512MB RAM, and the image above is from WWDC to prove this. If you are a registered Apple developer, check out the WWDC video called ‘Session 147, Advanced Performance Optimization on iPhone OS, pt 2′.

The amount of RAM will ensure a snappy multi-tasking experience.

The same guy, comex, who’s behind the famous Sprint jailbreak solution has managed to port Flash to the iPhone. This isn’t a JavaScript solution, but a real Flash solution. Steve Jobs must like the guy behind this AND the Sprint jailbreak :)

This is just a preview of what he has managed to do, but a working solution could be headed to jailbroken iPhones around the world anytime soon.

AT&T previously re-scheduled the upgrade eligibility to anywhere between June and November, but now they have again moved it for a wide group of customers. The good thing is that they have moved it up so that many can now upgrade their current 3GS to the 4G/HD that Apple is set to announce later today. With a renewed 2-year contract you only pay the normal $18 upgrade fee.

This could be an indication that the AT&T exclusivity ends shortly, and AT&T is trying to get as many customers as they can on a 2-year contract.

Apple is set to announce the iPhone 4G (or HD) later today. The keynote that Steve Jobs will hold starts at 18:00 UTC.

When your phone is sleeping, tap two times on the power button to make the screen bright. If your lockscreen is showing, tap three times to see the same effect(as in make it first sleep, and then the two times to light the screen).

A feature that could one day become handy :)

Yesterday when Skype 2.0 was released for the iPhone we got free Skype-to-Skype calls over 3G until the end of August. Many users complained about this, and now we have free calls till the end of this year!

Finally, Skype 2.0 was today released with the added support of VoIP calls over 3G! Calls will be free until at least end of August 2010, after which there will be a small monthly fee to use this feature. Head over to the App Store and download/upgrade to Skype 2.0!

What’s New in Version 2.0.0

Upgrades / improvements include:

  • Call using your 3G connection. Skype-to-Skype calls on 3G are free until at least end of August 2010, after which there will be a small monthly fee (operator charges for data will still apply).
  • Near CD-quality sound for Skype-to-Skype calls using wideband audio (SILK codec) on iPhone 3GS and 2nd generation iPod touch.
  • Enhanced call quality indicator.
  • Improved start-up time.
  • Fast access to the dial pad from iPhone home screen.

A working iDroid version for the iPhone 3G was released today! It has previously worked only on the original iPhone (2G), but now it’s also possible to install Android on your iPhone 3G.

David Wang, the guy behind this hack, has posted a thorough how to over at PCWorld. Here is a take from their How To article.

What You Need

1. A first-generation iPhone or an iPhone 3G with firmware versions between 2.0 and 3.1.2, jailbroken with Redsn0w, Blacksn0w, or PwnageTool. If you already updated your handset to 3.1.3 or to a 4.0 beta, you must use PwnageTool to create a jailbroken 3.1.2 .ipsw file to restore down to.

Note that I am explicitly excluding the iPhone 3GS, all iPod Touch models, and the iPad. This hack will not work with those devices (yet). I am also explicitly excluding iPhone OS 3.1.3 and all of the 4.0 betas. It will not work with the Spirit jailbreak, either.

If you haven’t yet jailbroken your iPhone, don’t worry–it’s a simple process that consists mainly of pressing buttons on the device when prompted and clicking the next button in a wizard. I humbly recommend Redsn0w, since I wrote much of the code for that program.

WOMWorld today sent me a Nokia Booklet 3G! Expect many articles written about it, and with it :)

A full review is also on its way during the next few weeks. Thank you WOMWorld for sending me the Booklet!

In the meantime, you can read about the Booklet 3G from Nokia’s site here. Stay tuned!

Apple could be currently working on a free MobileMe plan. Currently, Apple’s Mobile Me service is $99 a year. With that price, you get 20GB of cloud storage room for files, calendar, contacts and emails, and a @me.com email address. MobileMe will let you sync files with your iPhone/iPad/Mac/PC.

No timeframe was given for MobileMe to go free, other than: “sooner than later… depends on certain facilities going operational.”

Maybe Apple will use its new massive Data Center they’re building in North Carolina for this?

What do we have here!? Android running on iPhone 3G! A few weeks ago we got a massive amount of visitors reading instructions on how to install iDroid on the first generation iPhone, and now I’m happy to tell that there is a 3G version waiting behind the door.

Only audio support is currently lacking from this release, so basically you can send and receive SMS messages but you won’t be able to make calls.

Next up is audio support–we’ve already laid the groundwork for audio support on the 3G and gotten it working in our homemade bootloader, so support for audio in Linux/Android will be coming in a few days.
