Someone at Sony’s PR jumped the gun a bit early and released the final announcement of the Xperia SL a few weeks early. GSMArena reports today that they’ve gotten hold of final renders and the official spec sheet of Sony’s new flagship. The official announcement should follow on August 29th at the company’s pre-IFA event in Germany.

As we’ve seen in many leaks before, the Sony Xperia SL is based on the Xperia S, but with a slightly faster CPU. The Xperia SL comes with a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 chipset, while the original clocks in at 1.5GHz per core. Other features are exactly the same, meaning we’re getting 32GB of internal storage, an Adreno 220 GPU , 1GB worth of RAM, Wi-Fi, GPS Bluetooth, microUSB and microHDMI. A 4.3-inch HD LCD screen with Sony’s own Bravia engine should make looking at this device easy. A 12-megapixel back snapper with 1080p video recording, and a 1.3-megapixel front camera will take care of your imaging needs.

As far as pricing and availability goes, you’ll still have to wait a bit longer. The Sony Xperia SL is expected to get official on August 29th.
