White Nokia N9

Glossy White Nokia N9 64GB

Nokia used their Conversations blog to announce that a glossy white color alternative of the Nokia N9 is on its way. All of the other colors are matte, so this is a nice new addition to the N9 collection! The new color will arrive by the end of this year. First up for delivery is the 64GB version, followed by the smaller capacity options.

They also wrote that a software update is in its finishing stages, meaning that we’ll see PR 1.2 released before the end of this year.

Changes in PR1.2:

The update includes usability improvements, like music controls keys from the lock screen or closing apps by swiping them down by default and NFC tag reading is also added.

Great work!

Adobe today announced that the Galaxy Nexus will be getting the Adobe Flash Player 11.1 and AIR 3.1. They class this under a minor update to the runtimes, and hence entitle themselves to release it. The company earlier stated that they’re withdrawing Flash for mobile, and they will not release a new major version for any mobile platform. The needed update for the Galaxy Nexus will arrive in December.

Here is Adobe’s latest statement on the matter:

We’ve received some questions regarding support for Adobe Flash Player 11.1 and AIR 3.1 on the Galaxy Nexus. To be clear, the Galaxy Nexus does not initially support Adobe Flash Player 11.1 and AIR 3.1. As we previously communicated in a blog post, devices and software updates from our partners which introduce new technologies are being developed on varied schedules that are different from our own, which means that the Adobe runtimes may not always be optimized or supported on devices until a subsequent release. We will provide a minor update to the runtimes to support the Galaxy Nexus in December.

Samsung Exynos 5250 Cortex-A15

Samsung Exynos 5250 SoC

Samsung unveiled a new System-on-chip (SoC) that sounds quite juicy. The Exynos 5250 is powered by two Cortex-A15 chips clocked at a stunning 2GHz frequency. The SoC is said to double the performance when compared to a dual-core Cortex-A9 running at 1.5GHz. That’s some serious power! The new chip supports stereoscopic 3D displays and resolutions up to WQXGA, which translates into 2560×1600 pixels.

Samsung expects to see the new Exynos chip inside high-end tables sometime in the second quarter of 2012.

Google has previously stated that they will issue a fix for the volume bug that has affected many European Galaxy Nexus owners. The problem is apparently triggered by 900MHz radio frequency interference. Today the company issued a short statement to let us know that the update is on its way out. Great! The update should reach everyone in the coming week.

Google’s statement to The Verge:

We’re currently rolling out a fix for the volume issue which will reach everyone in the coming week.

The ZTE Blade S is the same device that was last week revealed by Orange and by them called the San Francisco II. The new Blade S naming was found by sniffing around Bluetooth SIG records.

The ZTE Blade S comes with the following specs:

  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • 800MHz CPU
  • 5-megapixel camera
  • 3.5-inch display (WVGA resolution)
