iLounge reports today that they have some inside information of the next iPhone, possibly going to be called the iPhone 5. The mockups above are made by iLounge and should give you a good image of how the next iPhone will look like.

This is what iLounge reported:

  • The next iPhone will be about 10mm taller than the iPhone 4S
  • It’ll be about 2mm thinner than the iPhone 4S
  • There will be a flat metal panel on the back
  • The screen will be about 4 inches, versus the 3.5-inch display on the iPhone 4S
  • The dock connector will be smaller, about half the size of the 30-pin connector found in the iPhone 4S and iPods

Samsung Galaxy S III booting

Samsung Galaxy S III booting

This post is just a rumor round-up ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S III announcement that is coming in a few hours.

The name is pretty much confirmed as the Samsung Galaxy S III, with a model number of GT-I9300. The boot-up screen can be seen above. The Galaxy S III will come initially in white and blue.

The form factor is expected to be similar to the Galaxy S II, but bigger. Different rumors suggest that the screen will be around 4.6 to 4.8 inches, together with a 720p Super AMOLED HD+. The pixel arrangement on the screen will be in a RGB-matrix arrangement, instead of the Pentile-matrix that causes straight lines to be zigzag.

Speed-wise we’re getting a quad-core Exynos 4 Quad SoC in the international version, while the US bound version will run on a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4.

The camera will be either 8 or 12-megapixels, with most rumors suggesting it will be the latter.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich together with the newest flavor of Samsung’s own TouchWiz is a pretty obvious choice as the operating system.

Samsung bada

Eldar Murtazin has usually been quite well-informed in everything Samsung (and mobile in general). He is also the Editor in Chief of Mobile-Review. In his usual mobile industry intelligence post made yesterday, he revealed that Samsung is ending development of their own bada OS. Development will be phased down gradually with a full halt at the end of this year.

Neither Bing or Google did a good job at translating the original post, so those of you that speak Russian can head over to this page for a better read.

Thanks for the heads-up, Joseph G.!

Sony ST21i Tapioca benchmark

Sony ST21i Tapioca benchmark

Last week we saw a very low-end Sony device leaked. Back then it was just an image of the ST21i Tapioca. Today we get something more, with specs in the form of a NenaMark2 benchmark report.

This report sheet shows that the ST21i Tapioca will come with a display resolution of 480×320, an 800 MHz Qualcomm processor + Adreno 200 GPU, and running Android 4.0.3. That is confirmed, but rumors say that this spec sheet will continue with a 3.2-inch screen, 512MB of RAM, and a 3MP camera.

I’m impressed that this low-end device runs Android 4.0. Will this be one of the cheapest Android 4.0 devices out there? Sit back and wait for an announcement!

Nokia just announced that the company is suing HTC, RIM and Viewsonic for patent infringements in the US and Germany. Nokia states that infringements have been made to 45 of their patents covering proprietary technologies. These patents protect Nokia’s hardware designs on antennas, radios, and power management, as well as software features like multitasking, navigation, app stores, retrieving email attachments on mobile, ”conversational” message display, dynamic menus, and certain types of data encryption.

SCH-I535 UAProf

SCH-I535 UAProf

Tomorrow is the day when Samsung announces the Galaxy S3. There have been a lot of rumors of this device, and all seem to have different sources and different specs.

The general consensus seem to be that the international version will get quad-core support in the form of Samsung’s own Exynos 4 Quad, while the US version being a dual-core version running on a Qualcomm SoC. The most recent to indicate that the US version will, in fact, be just dual-core comes is from a user agent profile for what is likely Verizon Wireless’ version of the Samsung Galaxy S3. This UAProf shows a Samsung SCH-I535 running on Qualcomm’s MSM8960, which again is more widely known as the Krait or Snapdragon S4.

Just one more day until the official announcement, stay tuned!
