Eric Bertman, a Nokia VP, confirmed that the company is currently working on a successor to the highly popular Nokia N8. This new device will come with an even better camera than what the N8 has. We currently don’t know if this will run on Windows Phone or Symbian Carla.

The part where Eric talks about the future smartphone starts at roughly 1 minute 30 seconds in the video.

Here are the rumored specs for the Nokia N8′s successor, possibly called the Nokia 801:

  • 3.5-inch WVGA Gorilla Glass (resolution supported by Windows Phone)
  • 12MP+ camera sensor with optical or true zoom
  • 1GHz CPU
  • 512MB RAM
  • Symbian Carla or Windows Phone

Could we see this announced at CES or MWC? I sure do hope so!
