Google Motorola acquisition Motorola today announced that the company will cut roughly 4,000 jobs, or 20 percent of its total workforce. This news comes only months after Google completed its acquisition of the company. Roughly one-third of the reductions will be from the U.S. operations. Motorola will also close its operations in Asia and India, as well as its R&D in Chicago, Sunnyvale, and Beijing. Google Motorola acquisition Google has gained China’s approval to purchase Motorola Mobility. In order to get this approval, Google needed to promise that Android will stay free and open for at least five years. This doesn’t come as a shock since Google has never given any indication that it would even consider closing Android to other manufacturers than Motorola.
