Apple didn’t get a warm reception when it announced the iPad mini. One of the features that surely let people down, is the screen resolution. The iPad mini has a 7.9-inch display at a 1024 x 768, which in today’s standards is quite poor. The infographic above should give you a rather good idea of the screen resolutions that today’s leading tablets have.
The iPad mini’s screen resolution is the same that we saw on the 1st and 2nd generations of the iPad. The 3rd and 4th generations use a resolution of 2048 x 1536, which is exactly four times that of the iPad mini.
Also, the iPad mini has a much lower resolution than other tablets in the same 7-inch screen size category. For instance the Nook HD and Nexus 7 carry a much higher pixel density. The Nook HD has a resolution of 1440 x 900, while the Nexus 7 has a resolution of 1280 x 800.
