Google yesterday sent out invites to an event it plans to hold on October 29th. “The playground is open,” Google says.

This is hopefully the event where Google will announce the Nexus lineup for the rest of the year. We’ve heard rumors of LG (Nexus 4) and Sony (Nexus X) announcing a Nexus phone, but it’s not impossible that other manufacturers will join the game, too.

Google’s event will kick off at 10 a.m. Eastern on October 29th, i.e. just one hour before Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 announcement. Stay tuned for more news!
