Elop: Nokia no longer on a “burning platform”

In an interview with South African BusinessDay, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop told that Nokia is no longer standing on a ‘burning platform’.

The term first appeared in February 2011, when Elop wrote an internal memo where he stated that Nokia was standing on the edge of a burning oil platform, and that the company needed to make some tough decisions. The final decision was to leave Symbian sinking and choose Microsoft’s Windows Phone as their primary smartphone OS.

Stephen Elop now thinks that this ‘burning platform’ era is over, and that Nokia is now facing a new era of growth.
