Samsung Omnia M
Samsung today unexpectedly announced a new Windows Phone, called the Samsung Omnia M. As the name suggests, this is a mid-tier device. It comes with decent specs, but it has only 384MB of RAM. Almost every other Windows Phone has 512MB, while the Nokia Lumia 610 has 256MB. So why did Samsung decide to go with this amount of RAM? One reason is for Samsung to try and price this in the range of the Lumia 610, and hence with a bit better specs draw customers away from Nokia’s low-budget Windows Phone offering. Samsung didn’t reveal an expected retail price, so we’ll just have to wait for now.

Nokia Marketplace Logo
The Verge reports today that Nokia will brand the Windows Phone Marketplace as Nokia Marketplace in the coming Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh, aka Tango, update. The update comes pre-installed on the international Nokia Lumia 900. Nokia is working hard to differentiate itself from the other Windows Phone manufacturers. Nokia Lumia 610
Nokia just confirmed that the Lumia 610 will hit Finland on May 18th. A few retailers (Gigantti and Verkkokauppa) have the Nokia Lumia 610 listed for 199€ and 199.90€ respectively, making it the cheapest Windows Phone available. It’s great to see Windows Phone available in more price categories. Sub-200 EUR has for long been the separator of good and bad Android phones. A quality Windows Phone in this price will most probably sell pretty well.
