Nokia Carla

Nokia Carla

Nokianesia got their hands on what they claim to be screenshots of Nokia’s next big OS update, called Nokia Carla. Nokia Belle will most probably see a few Feature Pack updates before Carla is released. The update is expected to be targeted for the Nokia 700, 701, 603 and the 808 PureView.

As can be seen in the leaked images, the new on-screen QWERTY keyboard looks very much like the one we have on Windows Phone. The lock screen unlock button has made way to a MeeGo-like swipe to unlock. Other new features that can be seen in the screenshots include UI improvements and overall facelifts.

Nokia today released four new promo videos of the Nokia 808 PureView.

During the past few days, I had a chance to play with the Nokia 808 PureView, and boy is it great! The amount of detail the camera catches is simply amazing.

Ever since the Nokia 808 PureView was announced, I’ve gone crazy with all the PureView information around. The technology is simply put amazing. Well, PureView is not the only technologically interesting feature of the Nokia 808 – there’s Rich Recording, too. Check out the video above to know a little bit more of what Rich Recording on the Nokia 808 PureView really is.

The world’s first implementation of Nokia Rich Recording technology in Nokia 808 PureView records best in class stereo audio with every detail.

Whilst most high end smartphones can only record without distortion to around 110db, the Nokia 808 can comfortably continue to around 140-145 db, which is 4 times louder than the conventional mics can record.

Apart from that Nokia Rich Recording can also record very low frequencies also without any distortion. The combination of all of these elements means the Nokia 808 records audio with almost CD like quality. It has to be heard to be believed.

Nokia took the wraps off their insane camera technology called PureView at this year’s Mobile World Congress. The company released the Nokia 808 PureView, which is a Nokia Belle FP1 based smartphone/camera hybrid with a crazy 41-megapixel sensor.

Many were wondering why Nokia didn’t choose to run Windows Phone on the Nokia 808 Pureview. Luckily enough, Nokia is already working on bringing a Lumia series phone with PureView technology on board.

Finnish newspaper Aamulehti reported today that Nokia’s Jo Harlow has told them in an interview that Nokia is working on bringing PureView to their Lumia series. When asked on actually when this will happen, the answer was soon. A rough translaton of Jo Harlow’s words, “I can’t say precisely when, but it will not take very long.”

Heidi Lemmetyinen from Nokia Ääni (Finnish equivalent of Conversations) has revealed that the coming Nokia Belle FP1 update will actually raise the clock speed from 1GHz to 1.3GHz on some devices. Heidi mentioned that the Belle FP1 update will become available for the Nokia 603, 700 and 701, meaning that these will likely get ‘overclocked’. Heidi also mentioned that other Belle FP1 features will include Dolby Surround, a faster browser and a new Maps version.
