Sony has released three pretty impressive promo videos of their Xperia acro HD and Xperia NX, both of which are going to be sold in Japan. The Xperia NX is the same as the Xperia S, while the acro HD adds a microSD card slot, TV Tuner and infrared port to the equation.

Sony Roadmap for 2012

Sony Roadmap for 2012

GSM Arena got an image of what is claimed to be Sony’s smartphone roadmap for 2012. The roadmap even sheds light on Sony’s pricing strategy of the future devices. The information comes from Sony’s sales report in India, meaning the prices are for the Indian market.

The only device on the roadmap that is officially announced is the Sony Xperia S. The rest of the devices on the roadmap are still unannounced, but I’d say that at least the first three will be announced at MWC next month.

It is interesting to see a few really cheap phones in there. Sony (Ericsson) has previously only had high-end phones in their smartphone lineup.

We don’t know if all of these will run Android, or if the company’s smartphone strategy will shift to include both Android and Windows Phone. It will be interesting to hear more of their plans at MWC!

Sony Ericsson Teaser

Sony Ericsson CES Teaser

Sony Ericsson has used their Facebook page to tease of a “big announcement” coming at CES. Some bloggers have suggested that the device teased above is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, but we’re not 100-percent sure of it. The camera focused teaser suggests that we will see a pretty big sensor on this device.

Just a few more days till the start of CES 2012.

Sony Xperia Nyphon

Sony Xperia Nypon?

Ladies and gentlemen, above you have the first image of a Sony branded Xperia phone. We don’t know if the device above is what has previously been called the Sony Ericsson LT22i Nypon.

This is the first time we see an Xperia phone without the familiar Sony Ericsson branding. Sony has earlier told that they will phase out Ericsson of their name before June 2012.

Here are the rumored specs of the device above:

  1. 1GHz dual-core U8500 chipset from ST-Ericsson
  2. 4-inch qHD display
  3. 8MP Exmor R camera
  4. 1GB RAM and 16GB ROM
  5. Android Gingerbread on launch and upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich later

Could we see the first Sony branded device announced at CES next month?

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD / Nozomi / LT26i

Sony Ericsson has never been too good to keep their coming devices unleaked. The LT26i Nozomi is no different, with the world seeing it leaked more than once. Today we again get a new image of the device in question. This time its a live image which gives you a good idea of how the device will look like.

We’re expecting to see this announced at CES in January, 2012.

Sony Ericsson dropping Ericsson in mid-2012

Sony Ericsson dropping Ericsson in mid-2012

Sony announced in October that they’ve bought Ericsson’s share in Sony Ericsson. Now we also have a timeframe on when the re-branding to Sony will happen. A Sony executive told the Times of India that the transition will take place in mid-2012.
Kristian Tear, Sony Ericsson’s head of sales and marketing, had the following to say:
A lot of planning goes into getting the branding right but we will be done by middle of next year. It will also mean that the marketing and advertising investments will go up. We haven’t been as fierce as we were a few years back but we will step it up, refocus and invest more in brand-building in select markets and India is one of those markets.

Sony Ericsson LT26i Nozomi

Sony (Ericsson) LT26i Nozomi

Even though the image above is small, it is interesting. The image is the first official looking render of the Sony Ericsson LT26i Nozomi. This is expected to be the company’s first dual-core smartphone. The dual-core part is pretty much confirmed by the image above, since you can see the camera having ’1920x’, which most probably means that it can record video at full HD resolution (1920x1080p). Full HD video recording is something that only dual-core CPU’s are capable of doing.

The leak which we got roughly a week ago suggested that the LT26i Nozomi will come with the following specs:

  • 1.5 Dual Core CPU
  • 4.3-inch 1280×720 screen (320 DPI)
  • 1 GB RAM
  • Shoot full-res stills and 1080p video simultaneously
  • Front facing camera
  • Running Gingerbread 2.3.5

Sony Ericsson Xperia Ice Cream Sandwich

Sony Ericsson Italy replied on Facebook today with a possible release window for their update schedule to Ice Cream Sandwich. According to the reply, the Xperia Neo will get updated in March 2012. This could be the case for the whole Xperia family that will get updated.

Here is the original post in Italian:

Ciao David entro marzo dovrebbe arrivare, tra l’latro saremo L’UNICO marchio ad aggiornare tutta la gamma del 2011 mentre tutti i nostri competitor ne aggiorneranno solo alcuni (samsung ad esempio non aggiornerà nè il W, ne l’Ace, nè il mini ecc ecc) ciao

A rough translation would be that the update is communing in March 2012, and that Sony Ericsson will update their whole 2011 range of Xperia smartphones. There’s also a small jab at Samsung for their decision to not release the update for the Galaxy Ace or Mini.
