It seems like no-one really knows when Samsung is going to release Android 4.0 for the Galaxy S II. One day a date is confirmed, just to wake up next morning to hear that the update is not going to be delivered on that date. Now a tweet from Korea’s SK Telecom confirms that the carrier will start pushing out the Android 4.0 update to the Samsung Galaxy S II starting tomorrow, on March 13th. The tweet has since been removed, so we’ll see how this turns out. Let’s hope that Samsung finally gets the update out tomorrow!

The Samsung Galaxy family grew by one today when the company announced the Galaxy Pocket.

The Samsung Galaxy Pocket is an entry-level smartphone with a small 2.8-inch display. Other noteworthy features include Android 2.3 with TouchWiz UI, 832MHz processor, 2-megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, 3.6Mbps support, ChatON, Samsung Apps, 3GB internal memory, microSD card slot and a 1,200mAh battery.

We should see the Samsung Galaxy Pocket in stores from Q2 2012. In Finland, for instance, it should retail for a price of 129 EUR.

Samsung Galaxy S III?

It seems like the Samsung Galaxy S III rumors can’t stay away from the headlines. One day everyone reports a ‘confirmed’ date for its release, just to wake up the next morning in news that it is not coming.

Last week we reported that zdnet.co.kr had something that they called a confirmed release date sometime in April, and today, we get news that it is not going to happen then. Samsung themselves debunked the latest rumor of the release in April. Earlier to company has told that we’ll see the Galaxy S III in Q2, so that makes a release in May or June possible. My gut tells me that the rumors don’t end here ;)

Samsung has earlier promised that the Galaxy S II will get updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in March. Today, Samsung Israel let loose a more exact date for this update. According to their Facebook post the much awaited update will go live on March 15.

Android Central has gone through the trouble and provided a rough translation of the original post:

We promised we were working on it. You waited patiently. And on 15 March it’ll arrive: Android version 4, ICS, to tens of thousands of GALAXY S II devices purchased from cellular companies in the country or directly from us. We are very excited for the launch, hope you are too :)

Let’s hope this update goes live all around the world, and not just in Israel.

Rumors are flying regarding the Samsung Galaxy S III. It is expected to be the Android smartphone of the year. Some of the features that we’ve heard rumors of include a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED plus edge-to-edge screen, LTE connectivity and a ceramic back. Today, we get an expected release time frame courtesy of zdnet.co.kr, who claim that the Galaxy S III will come in April.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S III in over 50 countries simultaneously. Due to this, the Galaxy S III will probably sell some insane amounts in the first weeks of availability. Can’t wait to see this announced!

We’ve been getting a lot of rumors of the Galaxy S III recently. Today, we get even more when specs for the Samsung Galaxy S III leaked.

They pretty much add up to the recent rumors of the device. BGR reports the following specs for the Galaxy S III:

  • 1.5GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor
  • 4.8-inch “full HD” 1080p resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio display
  • A 2-megapixel front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel rear camera
  • Ceramic case
  • 4G LTE
  • Android 4.0

Seriously? A FullHD screen? That’s 1920×1080 pixels on a screen that is only 4.8-inches. Awesome!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)

A few weeks ago Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab 2.0 (7.0). This was an upgrade to the original 7-inch Galaxy Tab, and it was quite clear that we’ll also see the 10.1-inch tab updated. Well, skip till today and you get yourself the awaited Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) announcement.

Some could say that spec-wise this is just a minor update. We get obviously the same 10.1-inch screen, but it has received a nice resolution bump to 1280×800. Other important features for the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2 include a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth 3.0, front and rear cameras, WiFi, and an optional 21Mbps HSPA+ radio chip. A 7,000 mAh battery should ensure a good-enough battery time on the Galaxy Tab 2. Expect to see it available in 16GB and 32GB models. Android 4.0 together with Samsung’s own TouchWiz will enable for smooth user interaction.

Not many days go by without a new Galaxy S III rumor. Today we get a leak from BGR’s trusted sources who claim that the Galaxy S III will have a 4.8-inch screen and a ceramic back. That’s certainly a special choise of material, but it sounds cool. The source couldn’t pinpoint what type of screen technology will be used, but we’re guessing it’s something in the form of a Super AMOLED Plus HD screen.
