Samsung has posted yet another teaser for their October 11th Unpacked event. The newest goes under the slogan ‘Something BIG is coming’. We’re expecting Samsung and Google to release the Nexus Prime and Ice Cream Sandwich at this event.

Samsung bada OS’ project head, Justing Hong, tweeted that the team is in the last phase of finishing bada 2.0, and that they’ve started work on the next version, called bada 3.0.

Samsung has earlier promised that they’ll deliver the bada 2.0 update during Q4 of this year, so during the coming three months.

Samsung has sent out press invites to an event on October 11th. At this event, we’ll most probably see Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich announced together with the Samsung Nexus Prime.

Could October become any better? We already have the next-gen iPhone announcement on October 4th, and Nokia World at the end of October.

The video above is claimed to be the first video of Ice Cream Sandwich, Google’s next big OS update. ICS runs on a Nexus S. It could of course also be a good fake, but the fact that the phone was remotely erased shortly after the video was recorded makes it sound real.

Intel Samsung Tizen

Wow, I just received an interesting mail from Intel. MeeGo and LiMo will be smashed together, and continue under the name Tizen. Tizen is a new open-source, standards-based software platform for smartphones, tablets, smartTVs, netbooks and in-vehicle infotainment systems. Development of Tizen will be lead by both Samsung and Intel. The application framwork of Tizen will be built upon HTML5/WAC 2.0.

We should see the platform go live in 2012.

Here’s the whole mail I received:

Today, the Linux Foundation and LiMo* announced Tizen™, an open-source, standards-based software platform for multiple device categories, including smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, netbooks and in-vehicle infotainment systems.

Tizen builds upon MeeGo* and LiMo and will deliver an application framework built upon HTML5/WAC 2.0 standards to help developers reuse and extend their code across multiple OS’s, app stores, and devices.

For members of the Intel AppUpSM developer program, Tizen introduces new opportunities to expand reach into additional markets. The Intel AppUp developer program will support Tizen and provide comprehensive tools and community support to help you create compelling, feature-rich, and differentiated apps. Applications developed on Tizen will be able to be submitted to the Intel AppUp developer program for validation and distribution via Intel AppUpSM center and affiliate app stores.

R.I.P. MeeGo and LiMo! You can read more about Tizen from the official page by following this link.

It’s today a big announcement day for smartphone manufacturers. We’ve earlier seen Samsung and ZTE make an Windows Phone announcement, and now Samsung has also announced two new Android devices, the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE and Galaxy S II LTE HD. The Galaxy S II LTE is basically an original Galaxy S II, but with the added LTE radio inside. The Galaxy S II LTE HD again is the upgraded model, with the addition of a 720p capable display! That means that the 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD Screen is capable of displaying a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. That amount of pixels on a screen of that size equals 316PPI, which again come a little short of the iPhone 4′s 324PPI.

Both devices come with a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, 16GB internal storage, 8-megapixel rear camera, NFC, TV-out via MHL, a 1850mAh battery, and the usual WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth. The only thing that doesn’t sound too good for this device is that it is bound to be released in Korea :( Let’s hope Samsung changes their mind about it, and we’ll see this released in other markets too!

Samsung Omnia W

Samsung today announced the company’s first Windows Phone 7.5 Mango device, called the Samsung Omnia W. The Omnia W has a 3.7-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, HSPA (14.4Mbps), WiFi, GPS, 5-megapixel rear camera with flash, 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 1.4GHz single-core CPU, 512MB RAM, and 8GB worth of internal memory.
