Google today announced and released their mobile-formatted Google News. It is accessible via http://news.google.com. It supports Apple’s iPhone, the whole Android platform, and Palm’s Pre. In the future we should also see a Windows Mobile, Symbian S60 and Blackberry version.

Palm’s webOS just got it’s very own Facebook app. This one doesn’t work that well, but it sure is better than nothing. It will not even filter your news-feed, it will display everything that is on it. For instance, if you have disabled bejeweled updates from your feed on the “normal” facebook, this little app will make sure you wont miss them :)
WebOS 1.3.1 is required for the Facebook application to work.

In a survey conducted by JD Power, Apple has scored highest in smartphone satisfaction rates. It got the highest score in all categories, except battery function.
- Apple ranks highest among manufacturers of smartphones used primarily for personal reasons, with a score of 811, and performs particularly well in ease of operation, operating system, features and physical design. LG (776) and RIM BlackBerry (759) follow Apple in the rankings.
- Among customers who use their smartphones primarily for business purposes, Apple ranks highest with a score of 803, followed by RIM BlackBerry (724).

AdMob today released a report over ad requests on their ad network. 6 months ago Symbian OS came in at first with a share of 43%, and the iPhone OS came in 2nd with a share of 33%. Today, the first place is occupied by iPhone OS with a share of 40%, when Symbian’s share is 34%.
Another noteworthy contestant is Android. 6 months ago it was trailing RIM OS with 8%, and today that gap is only 1%. My guess is that next time this report gets released, Android OS will be third most popular smartphone OS.
Check out the comparison table after the break.

An update for the Palm webOS is now available, brining the firmware numbering up to version 1.2.0.
Except for many minor improvements, this update will also bring app purchases to the App Catalog. Read Palm’s KB article about the update here.
