BGR got hold of a portion of AT&T’s roadmap for 2012. The site stated that the roadmap reveals some juicy information, but only told about the best part, which regards the Nokia Lumia 900. According to their source, the Nokia Lumia 900 will hit the U.S. on March 18th. AT&T will sell the device for $99.99 on a two-year contract. That’s a very low price when you consider that the Lumia 900 is Nokia’s flagship device! For comparisons sake, the 8GB iPhone 4 is currently selling for that price. Let’s hope this translates into massive Lumia 900 sales!

Nokia Asha 303

Stephen Elop told today on his Twitter feed that Nokia has managed to sell over 1.5 billion Series 40 phones. This was later followed by a press release, which stated that Mayara Rodrigues, a 21-year-old Brazilian woman, was the 1.5 billionth Series 40 owner. Mayara’s shining new Series 40 device is the Nokia Asha 303. The first ever Series 40 phone was the Nokia 7110, which was released in 1999.

Nokia’s press release:

Nokia hits 1.5 billion sales of revolutionary Series 40 mobile phones

The landmark Nokia Asha 303 device has been purchased by a 21-year-old Brazilian woman

Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced one of the most significant milestones in its history with the sale of its 1.5 billionth Series 40 mobile phone. The device was sold to a female consumer in the Brazilian city of São Paulo and represents a historic moment as Nokia continues its strategy of connecting the next billion.

The 1.5 billionth phone was a Nokia Asha 303, a stunning touch screen handset with QWERTY keypad designed for web browsing, social networking and gaming, that features pre-installed entertainment and applications such as Angry Birds Lite.

The device was purchased from a Magazine Luiza store in São Paulo by Mayara Rodrigues, a 21-year-old who loves staying in touch with friends and family through social networks.

The first Series 40 phone was the Nokia 7110 developed in 1999.  Since then this family of phones has evolved to such an extent that they are considered ‘Smartphone Lite’ thanks to the innovations of the new Nokia Asha range.

Series 40 phones now blur the line between feature phones and smartphones.  With recent innovations including Nokia Maps for Series 40, Nokia Browser and Web Apps, Nokia Money and Nokia Life Tools, millions of consumers have enjoyed easy and affordable access to the Internet and information for the first time, with locally relevant apps and content.

Mary McDowell, Executive Vice President for Mobile Phones at Nokia, said: “We are incredibly proud to reach this milestone. Having 1.5 billion Series 40 devices sold is a hard-to-reach mark, let alone one attainable in a single line of products. At a time when we are maintaining our commitment to connecting the next billion customers around the world – it is gratifying to consider how Series 40 devices have made mobile technology accessible and help continue to change people’s lives for the better.”

Eldar on Lumia 910

Eldar on Lumia 910

Eldar Murtazin posted today on his Twitter account that Nokia is currently working on a Lumia 910. According to Mr. Murtazin, the Lumia 910 will feature a 12-megapixel camera, and it will be available as early as in May. The dude has a pretty decent track record in everything mobile. Many of his predictions have often turned out to be true, but recently some of them have also been totally inaccurate.

Just remember to take this piece of information with a massive grain of salt :) We’ll possibly hear more on the matter at Mobile World Congress next month.

Nokia Lumia 900 AT&T

Nokia Lumia 900

Carphone Warehouse, a large mobile retailer in the UK, has updated their page with information of the Nokia Lumia 900! The page shows that the Lumia 900 is expected to ship in June, 2012. Some earlier rumors have suggested that the European Lumia 900 will skip LTE and possibly receive a 12-megapixel camera module. Carphone Warehouse again shows an 8-megapixel camera, but LTE isn’t mentioned on their page.

Will AT&T’s exclusivity for the Lumia 900 end already in June? Will this European version differ from AT&T’s Lumia 900? A lot of questions remain, but we’re hoping to hear more of this at MWC next month!

Lumia with 7.10.8107.79

Lumia with 7.10.8107.79

I yesterday wrote that Nokia is currently pushing out Windows Phone build 8106 for the Lumia 800, which will increased the maximum capacity of the battery. Well, it now appears that the Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 are both receiving another build, build 8107 (7.10.8107.79) to be exact, in some regions. It’s possible that Zune will install two updates at one time. First you’ll be updated to build 8106, immediately followed by 8107.

Here’s the official change log for 8107:

Update 7.10.8107.79

On-screen keyboard. Fixes an issue to prevent the keyboard from disappearing during typing.

Email. Fixes a Google mail syncing issue.

Location. Fixes a location access issue. With this fix, the Me feature in the People Hub sends anonymous information about nearby Wi-Fi access points and cell towers to Microsoft only if you agree to allow the Check In function to access and use location information.

Security. Revokes digital certificates from DigiCert Sdn Bhd to address an encryption issue.

Email threads. Fixes an email issue related to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. With this fix, when you reply to or forward a message, the original message is now included in your response.

Voicemail. Fixes a voicemail notification display issue that occurs on some European and Asian networks under certain conditions.

Nokia has started the delivery of the promised second battery update for the Lumia 800. The exact OS version of the update is 1600.2483.8106.11500.

Nokia UK had the following to say on their Facebook page:

We are excited to announce that starting today and rolling out over the next two weeks we will be releasing the second software update for the Lumia 800. After already setting the pace for smartphones in 2011 we wanted to start 2012 as we mean to go on, by enhancing performance and usability. With enhanced battery life and greater Wi-Fi connectivity this update will allow you to get even more out of your Lumia 800.

Nokia N9 PR1.3 hint

We wrote yesterday that Nokia is preparing to release PR1.2 for the N9 in the very near future. Now, Director for Applications for MeeGo at Nokia has tweeted that we’ll also see PR1.3 released soon after PR1.2. When asked about the date for PR1.2, he tweeted that it could hit on the “one extra day of the next month”, meaning February 29 :)
