Microsoft has finally dropped the need for individuals and students to go through a GeoTrust verification process when signing up for a developer account on create.msdn.com (needed for Windows Phone development). This will make the process of registering much faster. The registration process took roughly two weeks for me. Good to hear that this has now been removed for individuals and students!

Microsoft has canceled the GeoTrust verification for individuals and students with the last AppHub update:

Individual and Student Identity Validation individuals will be verified using the information provided and their credit card information

Company Identity Validation

GeoTrust will contact the Corporate Approver to validate the information provided during registration


Many have complained that the Marketplace search doesn’t support autocompletion of searches on Windows Phone 7. Well, this is about to change with Mango. The image above shows you how the autocomplete does the search when typing in the keyword. This will definitely easy searches on Mango!



Windows Phone 7 Mango has gone gold now. This means that Microsoft has released it to manufacturers (RTM), and is basically code complete. We should see the first Mango equipped devices appear in roughly a month! The gold build is reported to be build 7710, the same that was seen on Nokia’s leaked Sea Ray device a few days ago.

According to the British Marketing Magazine, Nokia is currently preparing a large marketing campaign for Windows Phone. The campaign is said to cost roughly $130 million USD, and it will be a worldwide campaign. The campaign is expected to last roughly six months, and will help Nokia create a new brand around Windows Phone.

The first Nokia branded Windows Phone device is expected to be released by the end of October, at the Nokia World event.



Microsoft today confirmed, sort of, that Windows Phone 7.5 Mango will be released in September.
