Nokia Lumia 900 White

Nokia Lumia 900 White

Phones 4u issued a press release to let customers who have preordered the Nokia Lumia 900 know about a slight shipping delay. The shipping date was moved from April 27th to May 14th. The delay is caused due to the Lumia 900′s tremendous demand in the States. For those that have already preordered the device, Phones 4u will be offering a complimentary Nokia Purity by Moster in-ear headphones, together with the already promised Nokia Play 360° wireless speaker. Pretty good deal, eh?

The company also announced that they will be the first European retailer to ship the Nokia Lumia 900. Since Phones 4u claim to be the first to ship the Lumia 900 on May 14th, when will other European carriers join the feast?

Nokia Lumia 900 in White

Nokia Lumia 900 in White

The white Lumia 800 caused quite a havoc when it was announced earlier this year. It was a beautiful device, and sold out in many places upon arrival. Now its big brother, the Lumia 900 is also available in White. It was release by AT&T in the States this Sunday, and already is the device sold out. AT&T’s online store shows that both the white and the cyan colored Lumia 900s are out of stock.

The white Lumia 900 has yet to make its way to other popular web sites such as Amazon or Best Buy. Maybe Nokia could see this coming and shipped all available white Lumia 900s straight to AT&T?

Windows 8 Release Preview coming first week in June, 2012

Windows 8 Release Preview coming first week in June, 2012

Microsoft just announced on Twitter that the Windows 8 Release Preview (earlier Release Candidate) will come in the first week of June, 2012. The image above from Japans’ Windows 8 Dev Days was also provided as proof. In the image you clearly see “Announcement, Release Preview, First Week of June 2012.”

Here’s what the tweet read:

Announce…Windows 8 Release Preview first week of June. Here’s the announce from Japan’s Windows 8 Dev Days #thankyou http://t.co/ndRmXzJK

Three years ago when Windows 7 was released, we saw the following releases:

  • Windows 7 Release Candidate: April 24, 2009
  • windows 7 Release To Manufacturing: July 13
  • Windows 7, Available to partners: Starting August 16, in volume September 1
  • Windows 7 Consumer release: October 22
If it follows roughly this same path, we’ll see Windows 8 released to customers in late November, 2012. I sure do hope it is out well in time for the holidays.

Hot on the heels of the previous post (Lumia 710 update), we learn that the update will go out real soon. Chinese site WPDang reports that the Windows Phone Mango Refresh (aka Tango) will begin rolling out this month, and by the end June it should be available on over 90% of the Windows Phones currently available.

Features in Windows Phone Mango Refresh include enhanced MMS support, export of SIM contacts, a GPS location icon etc. Microsoft will announce the final details of the update when it is available.

Nokia Lumia 710 WiFi Tethering

It’s just a few weeks ago that we saw the last update to the Nokia Lumia 710 (version 11502), and already a new one is on its way. This update will bring Windows Phone Mango Refresh (aka Tango) with features like enhanced MMS capabilities to the Lumia 710. Another needed addition to the Lumia series is WiFi Tethering that apparently will be added with this update.

WP7.nl noticed that the firmware version for this update will be 1600.3030.8773.12120, and the OS version will be 7.10.8773.98. The update can apparently already be found on Nokia’s Servers, meaning a delivery should start soon. Lumia 800 owners are hopefully also going to see this update delivered to their phones.

Skype for Windows Phone

Skype for Windows Phone

Microsoft earlier promised to deliver the final version of Skype before the end of April, and they’ve kept their promise. Skype v1.0 for Windows Phone was released today in the Marketplace. The software should go live globally, but at the time of writing this post, I couldn’t see it live in Finland. Keep on checking the marketplace regularly!

Imagine talking to friends, family, and colleagues anywhere in the world, and seeing them as if they’re in the same room. That’s Skype.

Call, video call and instant message anyone else on Skype for free with Skype for your Windows Phone.

Plus call and text your Contacts (or any other number) at Skype’s low rates. It’s great value with Skype Credit.

Skype for Windows Phone is free to download and works over 3G or Wi-Fi.
