LG P930 XML profileLG has posted an XML file of a device called the P930. We currently don’t know exactly what this is, but it could be for instance the LG manufactured Nexus 3?

In the file itself we found a few interesting facts. The device will run Android, as can be seen from the XML file:  <prf:BrowserName>Android-Webkit</prf:BrowserName>. But what is more interesting is the resolution this device will use: <prf:ScreenSize>720×1280</prf:ScreenSize>.

It is actually the combination of the above what makes this interesting. Android, 720×1280 resolution and P for phone in the product code.  Will we see a phone with a HD display? Both Toshiba and Hitachi have shown screens capable of fitting that many pixels in under 4.5-inches. Would be pretty awesome to see this device go public before the end of this year.

LG Optimus 2X

LG told on their Facebook page that the LG Optimus 2X will receive a firmware update in the very near future. Actually, the update should go live starting mid to end of May.

The update will improve the media player, and should also fix some freezing issues on the device. The improved media player should include a selection new formats the device can play.

LG Optimus 2X Guiness World Records

The LG Optimus 2X is now officially the world’s first dual-core smartphone. The LG Optimus 2X is now listed in the Guinness World Records.

Here’s the official listing:

The first mobile phone to use a dual core processor is the LG Optimus 2X, which was first made available to the public nationwide in South Korea, on 25 January 2011.

Microsoft has started pushing out a post NoDo update to some Windows Phone 7 devices around the world. Our in the house LG Optimus 7 just received an update to build 7392. The update is a security update, that fixes a certificate related bug.

To receive the update, connect your device to Zune and check for an update.

Here’s video comparison between the LG Optimus 2X and the Samsung Galaxy S II. I think both look awesome, but which one is actually faster of these dual-core beasts?

Samsung Galaxy S vs LG Optimus 2X - 201x magnification

Here is an amazing tool that shows the different screen technologies in detail. The images were taken with the help of an industrial microscope at a 201x zoom.

You can clearly see how the Super AMOLED technology used by Samsung differs from the Super LCD, LCD and IPS-LCD screens. Even though the resolution and the screen size is the same, the sub-divided pixels are not. The level of details is much better on the LG Optimus 2X than what it is on the Samsung Galaxy S.

The PinTile matrix layout used by Samsung results in text being harder to read, due to straight lines being impossible to produce.

LG-E700-Windows-Phone-7-Mango

Got to love those XML profile files? Today we have a bran new Windows Phone 7 device from LG, called the LG E700.

The only detail we get of the device, is that it will come with Internet Explorer 9, which we know that will be part of the Mango update. This could very well be a second generation Windows Phone 7 device, with the updated CPU, gyro and Adreno 205 GPU on board.

The profile file can be found at LG’s site here.
