pod2g finally released his long awaited untethered jailbreak, Corona 1.0, for iOS 5.0.1. This new jailbreak will bring an untethered solution for everything pre-A5, meaning that it will not work on iPhone 4S or iPad 2. The reason for why it doesn’t work on these two devices is that Apple did some security tightening on their new A5 SoC. A fully working solution for the A5 has yet to be found.
Those of you wanting to jailbreak anything pre-A5 can download this new jailbreak from either Chronic Dev team or The Dev Team.
Apple just released a new ad to promote Siri, their biggest new feature in iPhone 4S. It is a great ad featuring Santa and his busy schedule for Christmas :)
Here’s a pretty awesome case-mod for the iPhone 4/4S. With $40 and roughly 5 minutes of time you’ll be able to make the Apple logo on the back of your iPhone 4S glow! You need to install a small light panel and a new rear cover in order for this to work.
Here’s what you need to do:
Remove the 2 screws flanking the iPhone’s dock connector port
Slide open and remove the rear panel
Remove the 5 screws near the flash
Lift up the power connector of the screen
Position the light panel, then connect and mount it using the 3M sticker (details will be provided after purchase)
Replace the 5 screws near the flash
Slide on the included rear panel with the transparent logo (so that the light is visible through it)
Replace the 2 remaining screws flanking the dock connector port
Pod2g of the Chronic Dev-Team just wrote on his blog that an untethered jailbreak for all A4-powered Apple devices is done. He has completed the coding part, and is doing the final testing before a public release. The jailbreak works on iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1. Apple’s A5 devices, the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, are still left without the untethered jailbreak.
Here is what Pod2g wrote on his blog:
iPad 1 5.0.1 untethered code is done, testing tomorrow with a friend’s device. Just to let you know my progress in real time. iPhone 3GS 5.0.1 untethered code is done. Testing tomorrow also! iPod 4G 5.0.1 untethered too ! :o. Apple TV 2 4.43 untethered done also. Will be able to test in some days.
Kevin Chang, an analyst with Citi, claims that the iPad 3 will arrive in March or April. According to his sources Foxconn plans on starting iPad 3 production in January, followed by a full scale production in February. This means that we’ll see the final product launched in March or April.
Keep in mind that this is just a rumor, but still a plausible scenario that could happen. This sure will not be the last time we hear a rumor of Apple’s next generation iPad. More is coming, keep on checking our homepage :)

Cult of Mac got hold of a list of secret code names of iOS. These code names are something that is used only internally. Apple also uses this same kind of naming for their desktop OS, Mac OS X. On the desktop side the code name actually became part of the marketing name, and this is why we today have Mac OS X Lion. It remains to be seen if Apple will also do this same transition with iOS.
Here is the full breakdown:
1.0: Alpine (1.0.0 – 1.0.2: Heavenly)
