I just wrote that I want more rumors of the next generation iPhone. Five minutes after this, I read a Tweet with an interesting rumor of it. According to Mark Gurman, Editor of 9to5mac, the next iPhone is going to be called iPhone 4+. He just Tweeted that according to supply sources, the next iPhone will in fact be called iPhone 4+.
Here is the tweet:
Next iPhone to be called ‘iPhone 4+’ – supply sources
The name sounds pretty cool in my ears. Apple used the S in the 3GS to signal that it is faster than the earlier iPhone 3G. The S stood for ‘speed’. Could the + mean that we’ll see a bigger screen on the next generation iPhone, or something totally different?
It seems like the world is waiting for the next generation iPhone to get leaked, or better yet, released. It is currently commonly believed that the iPhone 5 will be released in September. We’re moving closer to September, and we still don’t have anything concrete on the phone. Somebody please leak the iPhone 5 ;)
WSJ joined the rumor gang, and told some interesting bits of information of the iPhone 5. According to their trusted sources, the next iPhone will be thinner, lighter and more difficult to manufacture than the iPhone 4. They also claim that it will come with an 8-megapixel camera. Pretty generic, but it sounds reasonable. The 8-megapixel camera is one feature that we’ve seen talked about before.
Foxconn will start shipping the final iPhone 5 in August, which could very well indicate a public release in September.
The super long awaited browser-based jailbreak for iPad 2 has finally been released. JailbreakMe 3.0 supports every iOS device running version 4.3.3, including the iPad 2.
To install this jailbreak, you simply need to open up Safari on your iOS device, and head over to Jailbreakme.com. Press one button over there and watch your device being jailbroken! Couldn’t really imagine a more simple way to do this. Amazing work comex!
The jailbreak uses a flaw in Safari’s PDF component. Apple will most probably release a counter-measure in the very near future.
We’ve had a dozen rumors of when the next generation iPhone will hit the markets. Digitimes today joined the game by using an unnamed source who claim that Taiwan supply companies “have begun to prepare materials for the production” of both the next generation iPhone and iPad. The same source states that the devices will debut in September, and will be available in October.
Huge grain of salt again with these types of rumors.
