The Dev-Team today announced that they will move focus from iOS 4.0.2 to the upcoming iOS 4.1. This means that you will not be able to jailbreak an iOS 4.0.2 running device, or at least the Dev-Team will not bring it.

So now, people will begin to ask: will there be a jailbreak for devices that shipped with 4.0.2/3.2.2, out of the box?

No, there won’t be.  FW 4.0.2/3.2.2 was *only* released to fix the jailbreakme hole.  With FW 4.1 still in its beta stages, it makes no sense to escalate the “cat & mouse” with Apple for FW updates that only fix the jailbreak holes. To quote WOPR, “the only winning move is not to play”.

A few days ago a British woman claimed that she was the world’s fastest texter on a Samsung Galaxy S with the Swype keyboard. She spelled “the razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human” in 25.94 seconds.

In the video above, you can see someone (Gumballtech?) write the same text in under 22 seconds on an iPhone, with a standard QWERTY-keyboard. Can you see the speed of those fingers!?

Check out this browser comparison between the LG Panther (Windows Phone 7), iPhone 4 (iOS 4.0.1) and Nexus One (Android 2.2).

Pretty neat little feature in IE on Windows Phone 7. It can load content in different tabs in the background, and as far as I know, this isn’t currently available on other platforms.

Facebook 3.2.2

The official Facebook application for the iPhone got updated to version 3.2.2.

This is a bugfix release, and fixes the most important bug for me – the login problem. I wasn’t able to login after the 3.2 update, and that wasn’t fixed in 3.2.1 either. Now I’m able to use Facebook again, wohoo :D

Your iPhone 3G/3GS running a little slow on iOS 4? You can fix this by installing a simple SBSettings controller, that will disable all backgrounding tasks, and hence make your phone faster. This will of course disable multitasking and fast app switching, but you will have faster phone.

To install this, simply open up Cydia on your jailbroken iPhone and search for Background Remover SBSetting and install it. After this you need to enable the ‘kill switch’ in SBSettings.

iPhone 4 White

The video looks authentic and it looks like an iPhone actually MADE my Apple, not some DIY white iPhone 4 thing. For instance the flash on this device looks legit, with its silver border. The silver border didn’t look like this on the DIY white covers for the iPhone 4.

Facebook 3.2.1 bug

Only a few hours after the initial 3.2 release of Facebook for iPhone comes a bug fix 3.2.1 update. Apart from fixing bugs, they’ve also removed Places from all except the US version.

Unfortunately, this didn’t fix my application. I’m still unable to use the Facebook application on my iPhone 4. I get constant errors like the one seen above. Waiting for a 3.2.2 release..

Facebook for iPhone 3.2

The official Facebook application for the iPhone just got updated to version 3.2. The biggest new feature is support for this new Places feature of Facebook, that will let you share your current location with your friends.

New features:

  • Places. Use Places to see where your friends are and share where you are.
  • You can set the privacy of individual status updates.
  • See all recipients of inbox messages.
  • (iOS 4) Upload photos and videos in the background.

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a delay when commenting on a post or posting a status update.
  • Fixed some Notes display bugs.
  • Fixed some reliability bugs in News Feed.
