HTC Desire HDHTC has started pushing out Android 2.3.5 for unbranded Desire HDs. We also get HTC’s own Sense 3.0 delivered with this update. Check to see if your device is ready to receive the update! Happy updating!

(BTW, I will spend the weekend in Singapore. I currently have a horrible WiFi connection at my hotel, it feels like a 56k modem. I will post some news, but you will not get as many as you’re used to. It takes a really long time just to fire up a single webpage and the admin panel. I will be back with full force next Tuesday. Stay tuned! )


Nokia Lumia 800 Software Update available

Nokia Lumia 800 Software Update available

Nokia started the delivery of a software update for the Nokia Lumia 800 yesterday.

The update brings a number of performance and usability enhancements  including:

  • Charging improvements
  • Voicemail notification improvement
  • Replying to mail improved for Microsoft Exchange 2003 users
  • Improved display switching in bright light
  • Improved audio quality

The update can be installed by connecting your Lumia to Zune. Nokia has also promised a second update in early 2012 to even further improve the Lumia experience.

The HTC Flyer was released way back in May with Android 2.2 Froyo. Soon after this the company announced that they’re bringing Android 3.2 Honeycomb to it, and today is the day when the update arrives. The update should now be available as an OTA update that weighs in at 210MB. Happy updating!


Kindle Fire updated to v6.2

Kindle Fire updated to v6.2

Amazon released a software update for the newly released Kindle Fire today. The new software version is 6.2 (6.2_user_3003020). There is no word on a changelog or changes in this update.

The update is delivered as an over-the-air update, so keep on checking your Kindle Fire to see if the update is available for your device!

Motorola Milestone 2

Motorola used their Facebook page to tell the world that the company will start delivering Android Gingerbread to the Milestone 2. The update will go out in phases, so not every one with a Milestone 2 will receive it tomorrow. Just stay patient and hope to get it as soon as possible :)

LG Optimus ICS

LG used their Facebook page today to inform about the company’s Ice Cream Sandwich update plans. Their high-end devices released this year will receive the update to Android 4.0. The devices qualified for the update are: the Optimus 2X, Optimus Black, Optimus 3D, and the Optimus LTE. LG will inform the specific upgrade dates sometime in December.

LG confirms today that the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS will be initially available for the following high-end LG smartphones which were introduced this year: the Optimus 2X, the Optimus Black, the Optimus 3D and the Optimus LTE. We are also continuing to evaluate the ICS OS to determine whether it is compatible with the functionality, features and performance of other LG smartphones to make the ICS OS available on as many LG smartphones as possible.

In December this year, the forthcoming upgrade schedule and additional specific models for the ICS OS upgrade will be posted on our LG Mobile Global Facebook page (www.facebook.com/LGMobile) and on our local LG websites. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.

We’ll also see in December if more LG smartphones will be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich.


Samsung Galaxy S II Android 2.3.6

Samsung has released Android version 2.3.6 to their Galaxy S II. The update includes at least the following changes: fix for the lock screen hang bug, the Camera Interface has received some minor changes, increased HSPA connectivity speed, faster boot-up, and the regular security and performance improvements.

To check if your device is eligible for the new update, go to “Settings”, “About phone” and then tap “Check for Updates.”
