Amazon Kindle Fire

Amazon Kindle Fire

Amazon has started the delivery of software version 6.2.2 for the Kindle Fire. The biggest change in this is the addition of a full-screen mode in the Kindle Fire Silk browser. Users with a rooted Kindle Fire should obviously stay away from this update, since it will remove the root access.

Samsung Galaxy Note updated keyboard

Samsung Galaxy Note updated keyboard

Samsung has released a maintenance firmware release for the Galaxy Note. The new firmware brings with it alterations to Android that make the 5.3-inch monster easier to use. Updated features include the changes to the lock-screen, calendar, keyboard and a new torch widget. Many things have been optimized so that the device can now be operated with just one hand.

This maintenance release is still based on Android 2.3.6, so you’ll still have to continue waiting for Android 4.0. The 70MB update is currently being delivered as a Firmware Over The Air, so there’s no need to install Kies. Happy updating!

Nokia UK had the following to say on their Facebook page:

We are excited to announce that starting today and rolling out over the next two weeks we will be releasing the second software update for the Lumia 800. After already setting the pace for smartphones in 2011 we wanted to start 2012 as we mean to go on, by enhancing performance and usability. Motorola XOOM Android 4.0.2

Motorola Xoom Android 4.0.3

Motorola has started pushing out the promised update to Ice Cream Sandwich for the Motorola Xoom tablet.

The Android version of this update is Android 4.0.3. The update should go out in stages, so not everyone will receive the update today. Keep on checking your device for the update!

Nokia Belle

Nokia Belle

Nokia used their Twitter account today to bring a little surprise for current Nokia Anna owners. They said that the Nokia 500 will get updated with Nokia Belle (earlier Symbian Belle) next week. Nokia has earlier told that the OTA update process will being in early February, so it does come as a little surprise to see it delivered ahead of schedule.

MeeGo users out there can soon celebrate with the release of software version dubbed PR1.2. The update has just started going out to registered N950 developers. It should take roughly a month before the final update will hit N9 owners out there.

We will be shortly releasing a developer edition of MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan 1.2 beta (feel free to crack a joke v 1.2 here) to developers with Nokia N950 Developer Device. The goal of this early access release is to enable developers to verify that their applications do not exhibit any regressions in the new platform version.

This release will be available as a one-click-flasher for Nokia N950 Developer Device. In other words, in order to participate in this beta you need to already have a Nokia N950 Developer Device.
