Confirmed: Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Family Getting Android 2.1 By the End of September

Sony Ericsson X10 Android 2.1 Confirmed September

Sony Ericsson UK have confirmed on their official twitter feed that the whole XPERIA X10 family will get the awaited Android 2.1 update by the end of September. Sony Ericsson has been working hard to get this done so fast. We’ve previously heard that it will be done by the end of Q4, not by the end of Q3. They’ve managed to cut out 3 months worth of development time. Let’s hope they haven’t cut it too much, and left use with a whole lot of bugs.

If they manage to pull this one off, I can’t say anything else than good work Sony Ericsson!

Nokia C6 Firmware Updated to Version 11.0.029 – Changelog Inside

Nokia C6 - Black

Nokia has released new firmwares for quite many phones recently (X2, X3, X6, C5), and the newest addition is the Nokia C6 that got updated to version 11.0.029.

Here is the full changelog update v11 for the Nokia C6.

Stability

  • Browser baseline updated, about 250 corrections
  • Widgets are leaking RAM, amount of memory leak decreased a lot
  • MPX Harvester stopped scanning when encounters File System corruption or other issues
  • Improvement to refreshing library in Music player
  • Securewidgetpreinstaller slows phone start
  • Boot up improved in production

Email

  • Mail for Exchange: calendar sync improved
  • E-mail message gets scrambled by Email – forwarded or replied email are scrambled and full of foreign (mostly Chinese) characters
  • Special characters are not displayed correctly in opened mail

Usability

  • Big Clock not shown when device lock activated
  • Device lock fixed

Nokia E73 Mode

The Nokia E73 Mode has received a new firmware, that will up the version number to 043.001. The changelog is as follows:

  • Asic WD – stability fix
  • Update to browser security dialog – needed as workaround for being able to update Ovi Store client to latest version.

There’s no need to make a backup before proceeding, since the E73 Mode has User Data Preservation that will secure your files during an update.
