Nokia Belle February 7

Nokia Belle February 8 (Google Translated text)

Nokia Vietnam has updated their local site with information of Nokia Belle (previously Symbian Belle). There is now a whole page dedicated to the update, and it states that the download will be available on February 8. Now we don’t know if this is a worldwide release, but I’d bet that at least some other countries will get it simultaneously with Vietnam.

The image shows that the following phones will receive the update to Nokia Belle: Nokia N8, E7, X7, E6, E7 (twice) and C6-01. The Nokia 500 appears to be missing from the list. Could it be that Nokia Vietnam didn’t get the updated memo where the Nokia 500 was added?

Just one week to go, so stay tuned!

This means that not everyone will receive the update today! The best thing you can do is to use Samsung Kies on your PC to see if the update is already available in your region. Enjoy!

Lumia with 7.10.8107.79

Lumia with 7.10.8107.79

I yesterday wrote that Nokia is currently pushing out Windows Phone build 8106 for the Lumia 800, which will increased the maximum capacity of the battery. Well, it now appears that the Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 are both receiving another build, build 8107 (7.10.8107.79) to be exact, in some regions. It’s possible that Zune will install two updates at one time. First you’ll be updated to build 8106, immediately followed by 8107.

Here’s the official change log for 8107:

Update 7.10.8107.79

On-screen keyboard. Fixes an issue to prevent the keyboard from disappearing during typing.

Email. Fixes a Google mail syncing issue.

Location. Fixes a location access issue. With this fix, the Me feature in the People Hub sends anonymous information about nearby Wi-Fi access points and cell towers to Microsoft only if you agree to allow the Check In function to access and use location information.

Security. Revokes digital certificates from DigiCert Sdn Bhd to address an encryption issue.

Email threads. Fixes an email issue related to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. With this fix, when you reply to or forward a message, the original message is now included in your response.

Voicemail. Fixes a voicemail notification display issue that occurs on some European and Asian networks under certain conditions.

ASUS Transformer Prime 9.4.2.11

ASUS Transformer Prime 9.4.2.11

Many Asus Transformer Prime owners have been plagued by a bug that is causing GPS issues. Luckily, Asus has now released a firmware update to version 9.4.2.11, which will update the GPS drivers to version 6.9.13.

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this hasn’t provided a cure for every user out there. It is still recommended that you try and get your device fixed with this new update. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for a fix ;)

Amazon Kindle Fire

Amazon Kindle Fire

Amazon has started the delivery of software version 6.2.2 for the Kindle Fire. The biggest change in this is the addition of a full-screen mode in the Kindle Fire Silk browser. Users with a rooted Kindle Fire should obviously stay away from this update, since it will remove the root access.

Samsung Galaxy Note updated keyboard

Samsung Galaxy Note updated keyboard

Samsung has released a maintenance firmware release for the Galaxy Note. The new firmware brings with it alterations to Android that make the 5.3-inch monster easier to use. Updated features include the changes to the lock-screen, calendar, keyboard and a new torch widget. Many things have been optimized so that the device can now be operated with just one hand.

This maintenance release is still based on Android 2.3.6, so you’ll still have to continue waiting for Android 4.0. The 70MB update is currently being delivered as a Firmware Over The Air, so there’s no need to install Kies. Happy updating!

After already setting the pace for smartphones in 2011 we wanted to start 2012 as we mean to go on, by enhancing performance and usability.
